As someone that played it with my brother back when it came out I say multiplayer being pretty much unplayable is relevant. And it looked god fucking awful playing it. Ok let's break down your picture.
1. R & C third person gimmicky shooter/hack and slash with occasional easy plattforming. Easily an 8/10, but not for its platforming.
2. Mario 64 the first game to bring real platforming to the third dimension with incredible "physics" and animations for it's time. Holds up perfectly except for graphically but who cares? 9/10.
3. Spyro is a collectathon and a mediocre one at that. It's ok I guess for what it is, but it involves less real platforming than R & C and the controls fill wonky. 5/10 People love it out of nostalgia, as a kid they loved it bc it was a good mascot game, that's why some people still like those god awful gex games.
4. Jak & Daxter. Not a real platformer either, but it has some nice platforming sections. It's actually another collectathon, but this one rivals banjo kazooie and wipes the floor with Spyro. 8/10
5. Klonoa 2-->have to pass never played.
6. Ape Escape 3. A special kind of collectathon that changes up the formula by having moving collactables that you can't just get. You have to work for them. Fun gimmick weapons included. Easily a 8/10.
7. Wario World. Fuck out of here. One of the worst games I've ever seen. Bad collectathon with bad controls. Barely any real platforming. This games sucks mor dicks than a faggot. 2/10 (I feel generous today)

What's the point when the level design is repetitive and you need Runner Vision™ to have any clue how the developer expected you to proceed through the level?

FPS perspective is one way to get past the depth perception issues that plague 3D platformers. But having rendered limbs that clutter up the screen? Constantly shaking the camera in a way that isn't controlled by player? These things aren't immersive, they just take away from the gameplay.

I've played CS surf maps that controlled better than Mirror's Edge. It was a failed experiment that relied more on style than it did substance.

The gameplay is still centred around movement. Your goal is to get to the end of the chamber with the movement tools provided. Portal 2 added even more to that with the addition of gels.

Mirror's Edge? It was a neat idea, but utterly forgettable. I played through the game and there wasn't a single unique encounter that stands out in my memory. It's all just samey par cours and godawful shootouts.
