In the past, when a Nintendo game was announced, their was either a concept trailer or something to show for. Now it's a logo reveal and literal spoken word saying "a main Pokemon is coming," and then fans thinking it won't also be on 3DS (as if Nintendo could afford not to). Last time it was "a Zelda is coming to Wii U, stay tuned," which became both a swan song and launch title.

As in, Nintendo got a deal for 10 million NAND an others for the current year. BUT, the switch is selling more than they anticipated, so 10 million isn't enough. To ramp up production and meet demand they need to buy the manufacturer extra stock, BUT, said NANDs are used in the new iphone, releasing in spetember. And it happens that there is maybe 2 company in the world with the sheer buying power to compete with apple (Nintendo isn,t one of them)

So, Nintendo can only roll out the 10 million they had by contract until Apple is done eating all the parts.

The other option is to go for another manufacturer, (taiwanese, if i remmeber right) but those parts are apparently lower quality and higher risk of failure. Doubt they'll go this way unless they are STILL fucked by apple for black friday/holidays

People weren't buying third-party games, so third-parties abandoned the console. Nintendo had to make the Wii a casual oriented console to make up for it and it worked. But, when they tried to go back to a more ''hardcore'' audience they didn't realise that the ship had sailed.

I got a PS4 Slim last year for $250. It came with stronger hardware, 500GB internal storage, a proper controller, a free game (even though with was Uncharted) and a free year of Plus. Believe it or not, portability isn't something everyone is dying to have. I'm also surprised anyone would compare a Switch to a laptop. I know it's a long way away but that mainline Pokemon game on Switch will sell the system like hotcakes. Pokemon GO might've generally died out but Pokemon is as big as it was in the late 90's now.
I've got several nieces and nephews ranging from 4 to 10 years of age and they all want Pokemon stuff for their birthdays. It's just like back when I was a kid. During break times kids are trading Pokemon cards, playing Sun and Moon on their 3DS etc, everyone's watching the anime. You're left out if you don't have the latest game or if you don't have any cool cards.
The series has become as popular as it was 18 years ago.
