Robotech Battlecry was pretty fun.
So was Defender. The cut scenes and writing was very Saturday morning cartoon, but the gameplay was solid.

Whilst it has a lot of flaws like the fact that you just mash B to win[s/poiler] I have such a soft spot for Gotcha Force. 3D, 3rd person shooter/brawler in which you go around collecting tiny robots to fight other tiny robots so that you can collect more tiny robots so that you can save the world from very big robots. It's colorful and I suppose a little braindead but if you want something with a Saturday morning cartoon vibe look no further.

Other than that I'd recommend the Viewtiful Joe games if you haven't played 'em (solid beat 'em ups), Kururin Squash! (puzzle, maze game thingy) and Chibi Robo (charming tidy-em-up with light metroidvania backtracking and power-upping).

The thing about Gamecube/Wii is that the vast majority of the games worth playing are either first or second party Nintendo games or games Nintendo published. Everyone already knows all the big third party games worth playing like RE4. There are also fairly decent enhanced ports like Rune Factory Frontier out there too.There just isn't anything both exclusively on them that are obscure enough that you'd need to uncover. Well beside a few Wiiware gems that literally no one played like Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth and Final Fantasy My Life As A King.

Oh... wait.. Reginleiv, that's a JP onry game the might be obscure enough and it's decent.
