they're just really boring and limited due to a lack of mods and custom-maps. EA's obsession with "consistency" robs games of any community or flavor they might be able to support or possess.

this is due to marketing/hype, doesn't mean it was really good.

64 player multiplayer-games had existed on and off.

the only thing Frostbite Battlefield games did/do that's impressive is the terrain destruction/deformation, and to a lesser degree graphics (though I don't really care about graphics).

Everything else feels pretty average and casual/dumb.


The lack of a Dedicated Server Client(that can be run/hosted on User PC's and not "rented") in my opinion renders this advantage moot, since it prevents the playerbase from exploring the mechanics/messing with things to get mods and custom maps
