What good Western games are there, then? Valve used to make some good shit, but their last actual game came out in 2011. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and The Witcher come from Eastern Europe. GTA V (actually British), Overwatch and DOOM are the only decent Western games I can think of to come out this past generation, which is minimal compared to the fantastic Japanese games we've had. Western video games have been dead since the 360/PS3 era, specifically following CoD4 where all AAA releases became brown first person-shooters starring Hollywood actors. So who are we left with? Bethesda? EA? Ubisoft?

An American developer could never make a game like Shadow of the Colossus or The Last Guardian, it's just a fact.

Yes, they both make heavy use of western themes and settings, but the gameplay and progression/storytelling style are pretty solidly within the tastes of a Japanese audience. Hell, Demon's Souls wasn't originally planned to get released outside of Japan.
