Max Brass definitely isn't the all-time Spring Man replacement. Just beat level 7 Grand Prix with him, and even disregarding the roasters being harder to hit shit with, Brass' wideness and arm distance makes it harder to aim, in addition to him generally being slower than Spring.

That being said, he's very fun to play, especially if you stay charged and swole. Never used the Kablammers though. Any idea how to get good mileage out of them?

Roasters are the toasters but with black flames, and pretty damn powerful. They trade in accuracy in exchange for power though, so you really need to know how to aim when using roasters. I think my charged hits were doing 120-140 damage?

So I just discovered that popper can be pretty useful with a heavy arm like Megaton or Megawatt.

Throw in a popper followed by one of those heavy arms and you can get another popper shot in before the heavy arm retracts.

You might even be able to throw the heavy arm first and then have the enemy attempt to block both it and the first time the popper is thrown with their arms and then get a free hit in.

Her Starstruck ability is pretty powerful so that might be your go-to move. Slowdown-Dash-Punch. You get a second dash if you're in the air but I think it takes longer to activate the slowdown up there. After the dash is when you will be most vulnerable though, so watch out for that.

If your style is more in-your-face then you really need quick ARMS like the Thunderbird or cracker/popper.

If you get a good arms combo and learn how to bait attacks with his healing ability or can get down the right play style for him I think he works really well.

I was originally using ribbon girl, then got stuck in a rut in ranked, switched over to mummy and almost immediately shot up 4 ranks. Just got to rank 11 with him last night.

I play with him using a heavy arm, a curved arm, and have been experimenting with the 3rd.

No, you pick a direction to throw them in and you can't control them while they are out. If the opponent doesn't move the curved arms hit nearly 100% of the time, as no matter which direction they are launched they will auto aim at the spot the person is standing. Since they get launched towards a fixed spot curved arms can be avoided just by walking away from that position. It lets you focus on moving on dodging while the arm is out since it won't affect your aim at all. Gotta use them for predicting or punishing.

Also the birds have an up aimed arc too if you didn't know, by holding back direction when you punch. With slaps, punish side dashes with left/right curves and mix it up sometimes with straight punches. A straight slap punch has a large vertical hitbox that can hit jumps.

Punch motion is triggered by shaking the joycons forward/back. Aiming punch is based on the angle the joycon is tilted when you punch. Hold the joycon as if you were walking backwards (tilted back) then try punching by moving arm forward with it still tilted. Same for other directions, you could hold it completely tilted horizontally for left/right curves before actually throwing the punch.

Most arms can be aimed up too. Try it with Blorb, Homie/seekie, and the glove types.

Hell yeah, I only use Mechanica's defaults so this is great.

The just makes it retract 2 frames faster, from a max distance whiff anyways. On ver.1 after the final shot it took 27 frames to retract before you could block. In ver.2 that's now 25. Retorcher and megaton are also only improved by 2 frames. Expect all the other buffs/nerfs to be very small adjustments like this.
