I'm not scared of dying, I'm tired of an asshole with the best armor fighting me when I have jack shit, dancing around, lagging, running past enemies to heal constantly, running along the main path with enemies that aggro two at a time and can kill you in less than three hits, and constantly fishing for backstabs. DaS2 lets the invaders twink and abuse mobs somewhat, but it's tempered by the fact that they cannot fucking heal and any damage on them is permanent unless they're running a faith build. In DaS3 PvP is not only opt-in, but you're also highly unlikely to get invaded at all unless you've summoned phantoms. Not to mention that the majority of invaders are not twinks and aren't even above average players for the most part - plus they have half estus and 30% less health. Souls 1 had the best PvP by far.

The only time I get upset from being invaded is when the invader is so overpowered compared to me that there is no way I can kill him even if I play much better than him. Like if he's twinked out with a +15 weapon or he's using CE. It's not fun to hit a guy 15 times and do damage, then get killed in one hit.

Regular invasions are fine, normal invaders make the game more fun and interesting.

First play through if I got the game on launch I will do invasions.
If the game has been out for a little while, or I am replaying it later, I generally don't bother. By that point it's a metagame fest where everyone has found a way to be unbeatable and destroy you with no effort.

I like the play Souls games blind, so I have no chance against a metagaming minmaxer. The times I have attempted to actually fight them I do 1/20th of their health and they one shot, assuming it isn't one of the souls games where the one shot is ranged.

Invasions were implemented as a way for players to be evil and fuck over each other. Duels were reserved for an item you couldn't get until NG+.

My problem with invasions is the same with any other game with pvp as an extra activity. The people that decide to attack are the ones that have made their character specifically for pvp, where as you may be trying to do a mostly pve play through.
After a week all the invaders look the same and are using all the cheapest and most overpowered items and equipment.

The idea of being able to hop into a game to fight the host is really interesting, but the mentality ruins it.

PVP in Souls is garbage I have no clue how anyone actually 'likes' it. Everything feels completely disjointed in the combat like you have to play with a huge fucking delay in mind, while the rest of the game has crisp pretty crisp hitboxes/combat.
