What's the best gaming mouse out there and why is it the g502?

Great sensor made useless by the weight. If you don't care about aiming then might as well go full retard with an MMO mice.

My Deathadder from 2011 refuses to die. I need a good mouse that matches the rest of my setup, so black or white. I don't really care for rgb bullshit but if it has it, I don't care. Must have a decent sensor and at least the 2 extra buttons the Deathadser has.

Please /v/, you're my only hope.

I don't understand the complain about the weight of a mouse, do you have the strengh of a 10 years old girl?
You should try to start lifting or some shit if you have problem with the weight of a mouse
>>
it isn't. The shape's awful and I far prefer my g600 for regular games. Nixeus revel for shooters.

Would have jumped on the G pro if its mousewheel clicked side to side. That's the feature I miss most on the revel.

- Razer if you want an inferior sensor, 8ms of artificially added click delay to prevent debounce clicks due to poor manufacturing tolerances, inferior Chinese Huano switches, etc.
- BenQ if you want a REALLY inferior sensor (last-gen, PMW3310 compared to PMW3360 for Razer and PMW3366 for Logitech) and heavy OEM mouse bodies
- Logitech if you want the best sensor in existence, the lightest non-custom bodies in existence, top of the line Japanese Omron switches rated at 50 million actuations, and a spread of many mice with different shapes and features and weights

Pick your PMW3366 carrrier

g502 is 117 grams, medium, right handed, 7 buttons, unlockable free-scrolling scrollwheel
g403 is 87 grams, large, right handed
g pro is 83 grams, small, ambidextrous

I use a g pro, the weight and size are ideal.

>>
I just got a G402, I've heard good thing about both but this one is a bit cheaper and I like the design more
>>
>>383606760
You don't have to notice it, it's there, working against you. The click delay is also not even close to the reason why PMW3366 is so superior to PMW3310 and PMW3360 - see the other charts in the image showing the high speed tracking performance.

There is also the matter of mouse smoothing. PMW3366 has zero smoothing at any DPI, PMW3310 and PMW3360 have smoothing even at their native DPI (800.)

And because PMW3366 has no true native DPI you can jack up the DPI as high as you like to decrease pixel skipping and increase sub-millimeter responsiveness.

It's between the G403 and the G Pro. These are the two lightest PMW3366 mice right now.

G403 is for big hands, G pro is for small hands, is ambidextrous and slightly lighter.

Again I'll ask until a savior appears. I have a mixture grip of fingertip. Using a G502 myself. It's alright.

Only real complaint I have is the scroll wheel felt too stiff at first, and the microgear just makes it uncontrollable.

they used to be the best but sensor tech has advanced and they're still stuck on the old ones
>>
>>383613980
>Shitty scrollwheels aside, how can anyone compete?

Because Zowie/BenQ mice use eight year old Avago 3310 sensors and Chinese switches. By comparison, Logitech uses the state-of-the-art PMW3366 and Japanese Omron switches rated at 50 million actuations (versus the 10 million of the huanos - and that's a Chinese rating, the real failure will be millions below)

This. Love this mouse its so light and doesn't look like an edgy mess.
>>
>>383614348
>>1ms response time
>>Out-performs wired mice

It doesn't have a 1ms response time, and it's not physically possible for it to out-perform other wired Logitech mice. Certainly it will outperform many wired mice from other manufacturers though.

The wireless G403 and the wired G403 were tested against each other latency-wise, the wired one is faster. See the center-left graph in >>383606273
>>
>>383602198
the g502 is a good casual mice since it does everything just not at the highest levels. I'd prefer to use my g600 which is better for almost everything except fps. I'd use am FPS mouse but then I'd be useless for every other game since I need the buttons because games these days need more buttons then I can comfortably press unless they use some shitty system like using the scroll wheel to switch between weapons/items.

So I just use my g502 and get a bit of both. It's alright but as soon as they make an optical g600 that can do fps i'm out of here.

You could not tell the difference between these sensors unless you used a machined benchmark. The only thing that matters is that the mouse does not spin out when you flick it quickly.

>The only thing that matters is that the mouse does not spin out when you flick it quickly.

Avago 3310 (used in Zowie/BenQ mice) is utterly trashed by the PMW3366 in high-speed 'flicking' translations

See 'tracking performance/smoothness at high speed' chart in >>383606273

the g600 isn't even optical lol what

and the buttons on the g600 are god tier you need to put some force before you are pressed. I constantly press the buttons because they are so sensitive on a g502.

Did you not read what I just said? These MACHINED benchmarks are useless because no one has the accuracy to utilize those speeds . If you want to test this out for yourself then use an inferior sensor and see if you can get it to spin out. If it does then you've passed it's maximum speed, the speed the sensor has trouble with in the chart. But you won't get it to spin out because you fucking can't.

Mousebench, a free program you can download and replicate these tests yourself. You will find your Avago 3310 spins out at 150cm/s too, while any PMW3366 mouse you test is good up to 1m/s+

... No, mousebench doesn't magically move your mouse for you. You move the mouse and it gives you information about the sensor output. Those graphs are from a defunct Japanese tech blog called 'utmalesoldiers' where a guy hand-tested many different mice and found the PMW3366 has the best high-speed performance of any sensor.
>>
gaming mouses are a meme,i still play quake3 and ut99 sometimes online and when i ask the best players, they always say they use 5$ mouse cuz the difference is minimal
>>
>>383619683
You are literally retarded. A machine benchmark will collect raw data from the sensor and quantize it so it could be compared with other sensors. The user can provide the input. It doesn't mean you need fucking external equipment. A human benchmark does exactly what you think it does and compares the sensors how a human would normal compare them.
Also nice ellipses you dumb newfag.

What else is going to collect the data? Your mouse spits out USB traffic, you can't plug it into a book and have it come out onto that.

Your argument was that Mousebench results aren't valid because the guy was using some kind of machine to accelerate the mouse to 300 cm/s, which is not true, he explains in the blog post that he doesn't have any such machine and had to use his hands at a very even pace.

G pro and g403 are the best mice on the market, which to use depends on whether you have giant basketball-american hands or not.

Comparing PMW3366 mice to Avago 3310 mice, when you're in-tune with mice enough to sense minute differences, is night and day. PMW3366 is the god sensor.

I just wish there was a 2000hz version of PMW3366 for the new 240fps monitors, 1000hz on 240fps feels inadequate like 500hz did on 120fps

A human benchmark lets the user collect data on the sensors. They check to see if they can feel any difference in response rates or if the mouse would spin out if the mouse was flicked as quickly as possible. A human benchmark is fundamentally different to a machine benchmark.
And of course you didn't understand my argument. I meant the chart doesn't matter because you can't get the mouses to spin out, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the sensors because the fault speeds are too high.
>>
>>383623425
>you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the sensors because the fault speeds are too high.
Again, he reached the fault speeds by swiping his hand back and forth. If he reached them doing this, you too can reach them.
>>
>>383602198
>Mx518
8 buttons well placed
>>
>>383623657
And that is why I say a machine benchmark is useless because only the program could detect those faults. I also said there is no one who would be able to utilize those speeds. The only way to reach those speeds is if you were to disregard aiming which again is useless. And just like everyone else who has tested the 3310 during game play on a large mouse pad, I can't get it to spin out, and neither could you.
>>
>>383624287
>because only the program could detect those faults

No. Mousebench reads the mouse's output in the exact same way as a video game or any other program does. It just displays that data as points on a graph instead of a series of translations in a 3D space. If there are errors showing up in the Mousebench they will be in your games too.

>the only way to reach those speeds is if you were to disregard aiming

>>
>>383624804
So you're telling me that if you were testing the sensors without the program you could detect the faults of the sensors in game? Don't kid yourself, you only get off to the numbers a program gives you when comparing them at extreme speeds that you would never reach during game play. If you care so much about stats then buy yourself a razer deathadder chroma, since it has an even better sensor than what that chart tests.
>>
>>383625627
>then buy yourself a razer deathadder chroma, since it has an even better sensor than what that chart tests.

Incorrect, the Deathadder Chroma has PMW3389, a re-branded PMW3360 with no changes. It has heavy smoothing and significant added input delay compared to the zero-smoothing PMW3366. See input delay chart in center-left of >>383606273

I want a good mouse.

For ages I have been using the MX518. It was a really good mouse but I wanted something with more functions and the thing was so dirty and worn out that I considered something new.

So I got one of the first Steelseries Rival in the market. And let me tell you after a few years I'm really disappointed. The rubber on the sides is gone, mainly because it fucking melted away. Mouse button 3 (the wheel one) sometimes registers multiple clicks if you hold it for more than a quarter of a second, the wheel feels really cheap. The software is quite crappy, there's a lot of indications on internet against newer firmwares and updating/downgrading the thing is a pain in the ass because it can get easily stuck doing nothing until you plug/unplug the thing or follow the instructions correctly (which is, flash firmware, wait a few seconds, kill every single SS engine process, restart Windows without unplugging the mouse, open the engine while the mouse is still flashing blue, pretty intuitive of course) and it doesn't exactly feel any more accurate than the MX518 at all.

So, given this information, which mouse would you suggest if I had these both?

Both have 2 thumb macros
I use them mainly in Arma 3 for switching between sight modes and to stop breathing
They help a lot because they add 2 more buttons that I can use without interrupting any other functions like side stepping or any other movement
But now that I think about it there aren't that many situations where it's really nacessary to switch between long- and short range sights while moving,
but I can't really think of any other key for holding breath than the macro so that's probably the more helpful macro

and I haven't been banned from anywhere

I know I should stop shilling the g900 but be assured, the delay is inexistant or even shorter than some wired mice's. Go for it, you'll love it man.

Underage.

Too bad the g900 is a fucking hundred dollars. 60 is my upper limit on a mouse.

It's not only looks but ergonomics as well you retarded mongoloid. And if it looks like shit I'd find another product with the same sensor or equally good (and there are lots of them, even with "inferior" ones you won't notice any difference anyway) and better design that doesn't make me want to puke.
Stop trying to defend your utter shit GAYMURR GEAR you underage retard. Adults with good taste don't want their mouses look like fucking Bat-mobiles.

My Death Adder had a really bad double clicking problem. Just replaced it with a Corsair Gaming m65 pro rgb and its fantastic. If your not into the lights you can set them to white if you want to match your setup.

my fav mouse of all time but it's way too expensive for what it is now

I wish they would reboot it

I love this mouse. Great DPI, great response time, great battery life. I've had mine for four months so far and I haven't had any issues, and I haven't had to change the batteries yet either.

I've had the mouse for about 2 years and I can definitely say:

It does not! Still 100% operational, and I guarantee I spin it more than you do :p

This here. Went from a g402, which was a great gaming mouse, to the g900 when it was on sale recently and totally love it. The shape took a bit of getting used to, but now I love it. The buttons and scroll wheel feel amazing, the response is no different from a wired mouse, and it really doesn't need to be charged often. I love it

I also have this one and would recommend it as well, also there's a white one that would look nice with your setup.
