From a PC gamer who had Nintendo consoles in the past, (3DS, DS and Wii), at first I felt like the Switch was gonna be complete crap. Especially since around the time the Switch was still the "NX", Nintendo did a "it's not about the graphics, we are a content focused company". Okay, sure, good games sound nice but the hardware isn't going to be insanely bad right? ....Right?
pros
>The resolution surprised me. BOTW (900p30fps docked) looks fine on HDTV, and MK8D (1080p docked) looks great and runs smooth at 60fps. Good in handheld mode for both games (720p)
>Different playstyles so you can feel comfy
>Dock doesn't scratch the screen, no left Joycon desync
>Good game lineup for this year, basically getting a major game almost every year.
cons
>kickstand doesn't work well, only supports one viewing angle
>can't charge in tabletop mode without some sort of stand
>joycon straps are not easy to get off, even if you match the symbols up
>voice chat, while clever due to the Switch's hardware, needs reworking especially with that crappy splatoon headset
>weak as a console in specs, (which isn't much of a surprise compared to Nintendo's previous stuff), but is great as a handheld.
overall/tl;dr
Doubted the Switch by just its specs, but once I gave it a shot I ended up changing my mind and liking it. Has a good game lineup for this year, and the system just works like advertised. It does have flaws though and some areas need to be worked on, but I'm pleased with it.
