The physics, hitboxes and colisions are a mess, you can tell by bouncing on turtles on the first game or the native shields, in crash 2 the hippos on water levels and bonus platforms and death routes

The whole game has a lot of physics bugs, I understand it was rebuilt from scrap but its like they were running out of time, they rushed and this is what we got.
