Why do people feel the need to compare this game to other games?

BOTW vs Bloodborne

and to a lesser degree

BOTW vs Skyrim
BOTW vs FFXV

It's because modern "gamers" have a very limited experience with games in general and thus they need comparison points to modern AAA trash to get the basic idea.

However, in BotW's case, the comparisons also tend to work for its best, as the game does address and fix numerous typical openworld game problems.
