The sprites looked like shit even back in the day, it has bugs and balance issues out the ass, and the least amount of polish and quality of life issues in the series.

no, platinum is marred by problems persisting from diamond and pearl like slow speed, worst HM usage in the series, garbage region until post game where the only diverse environments slow the game down even more (marsh/snow), Mt. fucking corronett, and horrid distribution of pokemon (fire types are the biggest example)

on top of this, platinum also has a shitter BF than emerald, less exploration, and worse contests. Platinum is a more flawed game that doesn't reach the heights of emerald (or the other games in the picture).

What's the best Pokémon game to randomise? So far my best experience has been with Emerald, Crystal a close second. Gonna randomise Heart Gold next though.

Red is the canon version. Also if you go to the wikipedia page of R&B it has the cover art of Red in there because it's the superior and more iconic of the two.
