I used:
Uhlan - Balthier
Monk - Vaan
White Mage - Penelo
Black Mage - Fran
Samurai - Ashe
Knight - Basch

And it was a pretty good setup. I don't think any of the classes are outright terrible, though time mage is kind of useless because time spell "motes" are pretty common. Machinist I remember reading wasn't that great either.
All that said, they may have rebalanced the classes a bit.
