i disagree with both the heavy and engineers being weak on offense. even in highlander the game moves with the heavy, and engineer will topfrag on koth. teleporters are important on offense in attack and defend on second point as well. that said in a class based game i don't agree that they should be equally as useful in every single situation because that defeats the purpose of having inherently imbalanced characters with counters in the first place

Only when holding, not when PUSHING aka playing offensively. Also Highlander doesn't really count for balance since the game is balanced around 6s. HL can't have a working matchmaking system and is too different from the regular game, so we don't balance around it.

See, in HL you're always forced to run an Engineer regardless of whether he's actually viable. But in actual competitive play nobody uses Engineer on offense in KOTH because the distance to mid is so short, that picking a slow Scout just so he can give you a Teleporter shaving 1 or 2 seconds off your travel time isn't worth it.

Yes. He is not worth picking over better classes in an offensive setting in 5CP, CTF, KOTH, TC, RD, etcetera.
And you only need one on offense in Payload or Attack/Defend (and on certain maps at certain points, it isn't even worth having one at all; eg. Dustbowl stage 1 cap 1 or Badwater cap 1).

Honestly at this point I'd rather just have TF3 with major class rebalancing, a few new classes, and little to no unlocks.

Medic has TF2's equivalent of the Plasma Gun. It fires a rapid stream of low-damage projectiles.
Spy=Gauntlet. (melee)
Scout=Shotgun. (closerange burst hitscan)
Soldier=Rocket Launcher. (longrange sustained projectile).
Demo=Grenade Launcher. (closerange burst projectile).

Due to an old bug Medic used to be able to "needle jump" himself and allies with the knockback on the Syringe Gun, actually. They took it out of the game because of how understandably broken it was, but that was there and still is there if you play console TF2.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind being able to plasma climb in TF2. But we don't have to go full on Overshit just to make that possible, we can just do it with an unlock. 9 classes is enough.
