Pacing is not the reason REmake is so great. Granted, this can be prevented by knowing what to do with what items, but you can't expect that from a first playthrough.

Yes it is, things never happen too fast or too slow. Items are placed in such a way that any player paying attention will be able to have a consistent pace of progression throughout the game. Backtracking might be a bit much towards the end with the battery in the generator but it's nothing too bad. On top of all that, it constantly brings in new locations like the courtyard, dormitory, Aqua Ring, catacombs, Umbrella lab.

It is one of gaming's few 10/10s.
