Legaia was fun! I remember borrowing a copy from a friend and being irritated he wanted it back after only two days. How the fuck am I supposed to beat a game in two days? What should I do, go to fucking Blockbuster? Fuck that place.

I really enjoyed playing through the GBA port of this, it hit all the right buttons:

>Protagonist gets a class boost complete with model change partway through the story
>Optional dungeons with endgame gear
>Classic tropes of party members betraying you and reappearing
>The sprites on the GBA version were cute and had satisfying animations

Kyle was my boi, he and Jessica were more interesting than the MC and his waifu (though her corrupted form was pretty hot)

You can NEVER go wrong with ps1/saturn version.

However, I recommend Sega CD's Lunar 2 instead of any other iteration.

So, my recommendation is; starts with Lunar 2 on Sega CD, then Lunar 1 on ps1. This way you can enjoy it greatly.

Or if you are a purist and can endure the flaws of olds rpgs, play it in the release order.

Man, I remember picking up the special edition of this game. Came with a pendant, a music CD, a fucking cloth map of the world, and some other marketing material. Working Designs may have had a questionable translation, but it was funny at least, and god DAMN but they knew how to pack in some swag.

They are two different stories in the same world. Lunar 1 happened thousands of years before. They do connect tho, but its very late on the game and its not mandatory. Lunar 2 on Sega CD has an unique charm, a better art style (imho), a good translation and less silly anime goofiness (even though they are present, but in tolerable levels). Lunar 1 on ps1 feels like a sequel to everything great on Sega CD's Lunar 2 gameplay wise. Thats why I recommend this order and I think its the best way to enjoy the series

It was good, but Trails in the Sky did everything Lunar did except better, ultimately. Still a good game, but I do think that people tend to overrate the classics.

Bought both boxsets when they came out.

It's been forever since I've replayed them, but both Lunar games remain two of my most favorite games I've played. I don't think it gets enough love.

Even if it's too "by the books", it's a game that does everything right.
