I say this as someone who as mild interest in BOTW because it appeals to the kind of games I enjoy -- open world, open ended video games. Being able to basically fuck off, do my own thing, and influence the world as little as or however I want is something that appeals to me, because the ability to maintain a limited interaction in the world actually makes me feel like I'm in it. Fallout New Vegas nailed this absolutely fucking greatly.

BOTW has my interest in this because it seems like I can be more of a nobody, rise up with dinky, lame ass gear, and beat the shit out of some super evil demon fag with my shit gear because I'm trying to do my nobody shit, and he's annoying me by getting in the way.

If any of the other zelda games are any indication however, it's going to be some chosen one bullshit and the master sword's going to be pretty much the best weapon because it's the only one that doesn't break, so whatever.

Shifting focus to my intended point, there's several reasons why BOTW would be unappealing to people. The weapon durability bullshit, for one, should definitely be something you can toggle off, and the weapons should just go be things you can find, buy in shops, and get in side quests. Weapon durability is a fucking meme and the only people saying it's a good game mechanic, and not a literal fucking chore are idiots. You also have the sandbox focus, at least from what trailers, reviews, and speedruns have shown me, (granted speedruns may not be a fair source of information but they would show a bit more of the 'meta' of the game, or ways people would play it that aren't necessarily intended) which could turn a lot of people off in comparison to the more linear, formulaic Zelda games.

So in short, how fucking worthless do you have to be in life to come and bitch at /v/ posters critical of some game you like (that, knowing people like you, haven't even played) for citing reasons they like or dislike a game?
