The graphics became increasingly more cartoonish. I loved warcraft 3 and the initial WoW graphics because they were colorful but still somewhat grim and realistic.

Otherwise, leveling and exploration is now an afterthought instead of a serious part of the game, and you don't have to commit to classes or specs.
