For those who want a real answer and come here...ryzen is great if you have a cpu that's not performing how you wish, if you already have a half a decent cpu skip the upgrade. Ryan is good for multitasking, Intel is good for dedicated gaming.

Depends.
If you have a newer GPU, rx460 or faster then a new cpu will give a noticeable boost in FPS but if you have an older PC in general you'll also need to upgrade the gpu which is a pretty expensive market right now, you might as well wait.

I just flashed an older bios AGESA 1.0.0.4 and was able to squeeze 2666MHz CL14 out of it

Hmm, there will be some improvement but you aren't going to go from 30FPS to 60 more like 45 to 60 in some games and load scenarios.
It's up to you, if you do some transcoding or some other production shit (which i doubt or you would have upgraded the processor long ago) you will see a substantial uptick in performance there which could make it worth it, and you can always upgrade the GPU later, which is what I'm doing with my similarly old PC (my motherboard was failing so i kind of had to upgrade either way) but yeah, it's not going to be a game changer.

AMD will never be good at making CPUs.

I've got one. I do a lot of emulation and planning on upgrading for that. Newer CPUs have much faster L3 cache, which helps with running emulators. Know that Skylake/Kabylake are the best thing to get for emulators, but I'm not paying $240 for a 4c4t cpu in 2017. Planning on getting either 1600 or 1600x
