game A:
>the best graphics you have ever seen
>photo realistic
>everything is static
>you can interact with nothing
game B:
>simple visuals
>destrictible environments
>volumetric smoke, water etc.
>advanced ragdoll physics
>everything is physics enabled and interactive in some way
which do you want?
>Game A
Horizon Zero Dawn
>Game B
Breath of the Wild
game B
who would want graphics over gameplay
A if I want a movie, B if I want a game.
is this a cleverly disguised horizon vs botw thread?
>>383540489
If it wasn't before, it is now.
>>383540326
>You can interact with nothing
Then it literally isn't a game.
i like game b alot
>everything is static
So it isn't even a movie, just a giant picture? Who would even pick A?
>Game A:
All ps4 games
>>383540326
>game A
doom3
>game B
half life 2
>>383541094
I think OP meant everything being static in regards to interactivity with the environment.
You can't pick up a tree branch or light on fire, for example. It's just a part of the environment. Walking on it or attempting to move it doesn't affect it either.
Game B doesn't exist yet
Game B. Everything described in Game B helps gameplay. Nothing described in Game A helps gameplay. Game B is superior.
>>383540326
>game A is a movie
>game B is a game
Real tough choice.
>>383540326
>A: uncharted x
>B: nothing yet.
>>383543021
>game A is a movie
>game B is an incredibly laggy phsycis sandbox
>>383540326
Alright, what if game C
>as static as A
>as simple graphics as B
>but AI is practically sentient and dialogue options are replaced with just typing the text directly
>>383540326
I feel like we've had Game A as the standard since the original Xbox, but now it is starting to show its age.
Game B is the future, and it could maybe become more of a hybrid with Game A.
>>383543741
Then I'd have no friends in game either.
I'll take game B please.
>>383540374
/bread
Depends entirely on how the graphics or physics are used.
>you can interact with nothing
Then what's the fucking point?
>>383540326
I want Game C
>world is creative and unique
>has its own phenomena, ecosystems, metaphysics
Xenoblade
>>383545595
Thats not broad enough were talking about mechanics not lore details
Going against the popular vote with A here.
Game B is just open sandbox action game, like Red Faction Guerrilla. The idea has been done to death, usually fun for a few hours then repetitive and boring.
Game A has never been done before. Sure you can say it would be as much of a game as gone home, but it would be of a quality we haven't even been close to seeing.bonus points if its just POV porn.
>>383540326
Game A is a movie.
Game B as described is just a physics toy. Fun to play around with, but not really a game.
Get Game A the fuck away from me, holy shit that's disgusting
>>383540326
CryzenX is shit tier. Fuck off.
>>383542665
Dwarf Fortress
>>383540326
Game B by a fucking mile. But in an ideal world there would be multiple games that are both.
>>383547381
>can't grasp and use air as a tool/weapon
reeeee 0/10
Game B
Game A is really only good for screenshots and whatever the inherent gameplay is. Game B allows for the inherent gameplay the be enhanced through physics shenanigans. Instead of just fighting a monster, you could knock it off cliffs, throw it through doors, break open a wall to attack it, and more. It adds to how you play and enjoy the game, rather than just being appearance based.
>>383543278
Holy fuck I've never heard of uncharted X. Sounds rad though.
>>383546401
>Game A has never been done before
What? There's tons of recent examples that prove you wrong...
so basically game A is a UE4 photogrammetry demo

>>383540374
yeah right, BotW doesn't have advanced physics like that.
>>383548242
is that youtubes shitty framerate or ue4s?
>>383549050
I think it's partly youtube, partly UE's shitty stock movement controller which does some weird quantized mouse-look thing. It's been a long time since I used UE though, so I'm not entirely sure. I doubt it's a framerate-pumping problem though, these photogrammetry scenes usually aren't that intensive.
