I bought KF2 at the EA launch, but managed to refund it as soon as it went live for the full release.

Unfortunately my cousin purchased Day Z for me and I feel bad we'll never get to play it in any sort of reasonably finished state, nor will he be able to refund it.

A friend of mine purchased PUBG fir me. I never would have spent money on it, but it's complete enough to have some fun with friends. I have never played a solo match.

Castle Story.

I don't know if it went bad, somehow I just haven't felt the need to look into it since I backed it.

I think it had been a long time since I felt like paying for it, so it felt more like patronage anyways, like "here make video game" and that was the most interesting thing I could find.

Bought the game Squad.

I thought I was fucked, but surprisingly, the game was AMAZING and well optimized. It's a really good game, and unlike other early-access, it's definitely not a scam.

I went on their website one day, and they actually have WEEKLY recaps of what they are currently doing and planning on implementing. I was truly shocked!

Whenever I see an early-access game, I know it's gonna be some shady kickstarter zombie game made to get money fast and disappear two months later.

Squad was a legit purchase, and to be fair with you, its current price is really a steal. No wonder why it has a 9/10 rating on Steam!

Ark, but it was part of humble monthly so I'm not too angry. Still annoyingly shitty game with so much promise though.
Project Zomboid. Got it for like $7 when it was first shown 4-5 years ago before it was on Steam or even Desura. Absolutely nothing has been done to the game in that time. Still mad about it.
Minecraft, though I'm disappointed it never became first person Dorf Fort it wasn't too much of a waste of money. It's still best for autismblox.

Can't think of any other early access shit I bought I feel like was a waste. Didn't do too bad.

I don't understand why steam doesn't implement a new policy where devs have to put out the game but have a set deadline they say they'll meet and if they don't meet it they get there game pulled and people get a refund
>>
>>383539790
Because then steam becomes like EA
I think a more reasonable solution would be that they have a consultant who reviews games progress once a quarter and if there is nothing sufficient to dictate progress, then a warning happens, followed by a refund next quarter if devs are still dicking around.

Darkest Dungeon. Was great actually, they polished entire areas at a time and released that instead of just dumping crap everywhere.

Dead Cells. Great so far, haven't played a whole lot of it, but no complaints.

Hover. Movement seemed okay but the actual game part seemed terrible, haven't played it in over a year though, hopefully it's better.

Hitman. Complete fucking trainwreck only held up by good level design, this is a fucking embarrassment to the industry and the fact people suck its dick constantly is staggering. Bugs out the ass, stuff just doesn't work on a constant basis, always online singleplayer, everything is a joke.

Conan Exiles has to be the worst of all the early access open world survival crafting games.

Before even talking about the actual game, you've got to talk about how poorly made it is. Even if you have a GTX 1080 and put the games settings on low, it lags and stutters like a bitch. It barely runs. It's got memory leaks out of the ass and you basically cannot run the game for more than an hour without it hogging every single bit of RAM you have. The netcode is complete ass, and the way it interacts with the poor optimisation the game has means whenever the server sends you something that the game has to load in and display on your screen, the game will freeze, and in some areas this can be a minute long freeze.

Don't get me started on how boring the game is or how badly designed it is. And talking about the devs and their utter incompetence is just painful, it makes me wonder how they managed to get access to the Conan IP twice and fuck it up so badly both times.

because you realize at some point that the game is utterly pointless and the playerbase is completely compromised of literal teenagers, redditfags and sociopaths that think the game is "le grimdark, only the hardcore survive so edgy". Not to mention faggots that play 15 hours a day in some clan. A game that's primary selling point being the social interactions gets really fucking old when everyone just kills eachother without saying a word. Even when you have full gear and an AK, go try talking to nakeds and they won't even respond and just attempt to kill you with a fucking rock like some NPC.

The reason Undertale worked was because the base foundation was prepared all the way back in the demo.

Toby literally had a working quirky RPG with consistent visuals, good music and a somewhat entertaining combat system. At that point, all it takes for him to complete the game is to produce more and more content until he's finished.

Most EA games don't have a foundation, core gameplay loop, outline... hell, a bunch of them don't even have a business model.

Undertale doesn't belong in a description of EA because it was more or less feature complete back when the demo was released: All that remained was to add content. More features were included of course, but they were embellishments, not necessary structures.

Darkest Dungeon and Exanima were the only games I've ever bought in Early Access. Don't regret Darkest Dungeon at all, I still play it and bought the DLC day one. Exanima was fun, without a doubt, but once you know how to work with the physics, it becomes a chore. Hasn't had any meaningful updates in months. It was supposed to be finished years ago on top of that. I got more hours than what I payed for, so can't be too upset.

House of the Dying Sun and Fire Pro Wrestling World. Dying Sun is actually what I'd consider one of the few examples of EA done right, the game was already completed they just used it to fund bug fixes and polish things up a bit more. Fire Pro has some annoying issues but it's not anything too major that I'd see just getting totally abandoned most of the game is already there at day one and the small roster doesn't bother me because the community already pumped out like 300 wrestlers in six hours.
