4 is really fucky. No plane textures, not hangar textures and serious collision issues. You can brute force it in software mode if you have a strong cpu but otherwise you are shit out of luck. At least 5 and Zero emulate well.

There is no goddamn way a mercenary experienced enough to survive getting shot down once can never have considered an entry-level moral dilemma such as "muh borders" before the events of the game, let alone be emotionally shaken enough to defect from the army and become a terrorist over it. And after he gets beaten, he suddenly accepts borders just like that? Bullshit.
The laser jousting gameplay was fun as fuck, but everything in the story that led up to that point was incredibly stupid. Hell, all of Zeros story is stupid, now that I think about it. Even X had a better story, and X was as close to an anime cliche as the series ever got.

I don't recall him accepting borders, just recognising that his philosophy was wrong and that he was trying to find a better one. The conversation between Wizard One and him over the Round Table clearly shows that Pixy had been leaning into it before hand and the conflict just pushed him over the edge rather than sprouting the idea. I'm pretty sure he was Belkan himself so seeing the war happen as it did had an understandably significant impact on him.

Does anyone here think the real climax of 5 was the tunnel run, not the SOLG battle?
The final mission just consisted of beating some fairly easy planes for that point in the game, followed by an exercise in how good you are at staying completely stationary while shooting, a skill you should've learned from refueling. Kind of disappointing to be honest. Meanwhile in the mission before that

If you think about it, Zero is the only PS2 one that actually has its climax as the final mission. 4 has its climax when you destroy Yellow 13 and take the capital city, and Megalith almost feels like an epilogue. IMO Megalith doesn't really hold up that well as a final mission when you take the nostalgia goggles off, because the scraps of Yellow Squadron are possibly the lamest final bosses in the series and this was their first attempt at a tunnel run, and it shows. People just only really remember the mission for the dialogue anyway.
