SCH got a "fun to play" nerf thanks to ACN changes. Also, since its healing abilities are tied to Aetherflow and job quests and not ACN actions (other than Physick), all of their essential role functions are intact but the core of the playstyle- work with pet to heal and bring utility- is disjointed and not very unified. SMN is slick as hell by comparison- sure, it lost DoTs, but you have more interaction with your pet now. SCH still works independently from the fairy other than Fey Union (very shitty HoT) and you can't just let the fairy heal while you DPS in most content any more.

SCH nerfs needed to happen, but the nerfs coupled with ACN streamlining left it boring and unrewarding to play.

My average ping is about the same to both (115 to CA vs 120 to EU), but I get far more packet loss to the new data center out west. During peak times I'm afraid to queue for anything now thanks to the random stalling, rubberbanding, and 90ks that fuck me over. On EU I get a little rubberbanding but nothing like what I experience over here.

I like how SE made a post on the OF asking for traceroutes and promptly fucked off. I'm 100% sure they timed the server move when they did so people could get upset, vent, then get distracted by shiny new SB launch details and launch and promptly forget about it all. MCH is fucked thanks to BRD, I think. They are comparable roles but BRD has more utility AND damage. MCH will probably (hopefully) get potency buffs in the next patch, making it worth bringing for its reliable burst and shreds since BRD has a cornucopia of party buffs with intervals between its burst phases.

SCH needs help that SE probably won't be able to devote resources into until the dev/balance cycle for 5.0 begins. Everything SCH was good at before, they're still good at- they're the most efficient healers, and despite AST encroaching too far on its turf, they're the best at preemptive mitigation. But all of SCH's deserved nerfs were released with the streamlining of skills, and where SMN was well-adapted to the ACN changes, SCH was not. SCH healing gameplay has always been divorced from the shared ACN gameplay, and the loss of DPS options with no job quests that make use of ACN skills makes them feel half-assed at healing and DPS. Couple that with AST getting MORE buffs to its shields and SCH is in a spot where it's the most efficient healer (as if most players care about this), but not the best at anything else. I mean heck even WHM has MP efficiency crown now.

WAR I don't have much to say about since I haven't played it much, but I will say that every tank should feel as good as PLD. The fact that they don't is inexcusable since they took the time to balance the jobs instead of making a new one.

All signs leading up to SB pointed to "more of the same", with the only thing to differentiate it from HW being the addition of a new game mode in odd patches. It'll probably be Diadem: Relic Edition though so it's technically less for the same price. Still, I'm having fun with the new dungeons and raids, and the grind is comfortingly familiar by now. The work/reward ratio is just right in my opinion.
