These threads made me try Wizardry 8 for the first time. First Wizardry game.

Even though I enjoyed the gameplay I didn't like the walking around between places. Is there any games like Wizardry that has turnbased gameplay but only takes place in something like a dungeon and a city?

ha ha ha, that would be Wizardry 1-5. One dungeon, and the town is a menu you access when you leave the dungeon.

Or you can try one of the Japanese-made Wizardries, like Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land on the PS2, which was released in the West as well.

Grimoire will never come out because it does not exist. A page on Steam means nothing. It will be shut down shortly, and Cleve will disappear from sight for another couple of months, before reappearing with more ridiculous excuses.

I don't know about 6, but the PS1 remakes of 1-5 have automapping that are life-savers.

Being old games, they do have a lot of archaic or old-fashioned sensibilities that you need to learn to survive.

If you want something more friendly, I would think that the PS2 games, or Wiz7, or something unrelated like Grimrock 2 or the EO:Untold games might be more up your alley.
>>
I've never played this style of rpg but it looks interesting, where should I start
>>
>>383515017

> 6 in particular is fantastic once you can get passed the graphics & remember they were "top of the line" for their time

Wizardry was always behind other games in the genre when it came to graphics barring the first game. V compares pretty unfavorably when you look at an RPG like Eye of the Beholder that was released the same year. That being said your point is that the once you ignore the dated graphics you can have fun with the game and you're absolutely right.

I just downloaded the PS2 games and will see how it is. Does EO: Untold games have auto-mapping? Everyone on /v/ always said the fun of the games are drawing maps.

ll kidding aside, there really are hundreds of CMBs running around. Nobody knows which is the real one. When we defeated Skynet in 2018, we sent all the CMB clones back to 1997 to save the world from decline - do really think ONE MAN could write the greatest RPG ever, work a full-time job, post to 19 different forums, all the time building a bunker and blogging about it in a mere 20 or so years? No-one short of a superman could do all that!

Brother, it's a lot easier to believe that there are 100's of Cleve's than to believe one man could do all this! Sure, this invincible robot army may have missed a deadline or two, but titanium bones are designed for tearing new assholes, not for programming at 60+ words per minute

>>383516783
The EO games all have various levels of automapping. Earlier games only map squares you stand on, but I think the Untold games automap walls as well. You'll still be marking doors and special features, but the touchscreen works well with it.

The truth is that you are going to lose all your counterarguments for suicide the instant Grimoire is released. It's all you've got left in life focusing on being a passive-aggressive up here.

You're going to try to muster some reasons you should not leap to your death from a bridge the morning after Grimoire comes out but it's suddenly going to hit you that you are french and your resolve to try to go on living will evaporate. Please get something else to live for before then.

looks like, fittingly, he hasn't done anything significant for decades.

You have to chuckle at how how that MattChat interview with Rob Sirotek had Sirotek repeatedly refer to Cleve as "some crackerjack programmer."

I don't entirely know what that means, but it sounds funny and diminutive.

>>
so what are his backers doing? Didn't they complain when he said they'd be getting the physical copy shipped the day after it released on steam? If so, doesn't that kind of imply there are no physical copies made at this point? Either he made them with a bad version and needs to reprint, or he didnt even make the physical copies yet. How long does it take to get a couple hundred CDs made ?
>>

He's never releasing this game. He's been doing this for 20 years. In real life he's a programmer turned contractor, but in one small corner of the internet he can feel meaningful by popping in every now and then and making shit up about releasing the game. He's probably pretty happy right now since he's managed to get more attention on the game with Steam and more people to shitpost to
>>
>>383519538
At least a quarter of his backers have asked for (and been given) a refund because Clive takes years to do anything. And there's almost certainly indeed no physical material as of now. He only promised steam keys the day after. The guy hasn't worked on anything physical yet, I guarantee you.

His backers have only complained directly to Cleve I think. Most of them probably just have forgotten the project. What they should've done instead is to complain to Indiegogo and to Valve. And also make an official complaint to government facility. If this would be possible everyone would just create scam project after scam project and take money off from the fools.

I don't understand the situation. I immediately reported the Steam store page and you should do it as well. Because all in all it's a scam.

Now for example, he has stated that Steam has actually his binaries already but when you look at the database there isn't a single upload. People should really escalate the situation.

If you seriously want to get the whole story, start with 6. But I can almost guarantee you're not going to get through it. Unless you haven't played a video game in over a decade, you're going to want to hang yourself over how it's missing even the most basic shit you're used to in modern games.

But he better deliver the Incline wrapped in a blanket of Sirotek's crystallized tears before the impending Y2K 2.0 computer bug dooms homo sapiens-kind, else the first thing that comes to Didgeridoo Stu's mind when he hears the word Cleve is the cleaved off head of a rare metaphysical manifestation of broken promises in overweight human form which has suddenly been promoted to becoming the cranial replacement of a Neanderthal fossil situated in the National Museum of Shits and Giggles, right alongside other exhibits in the Practical Jokes Which Went On For Too Long section, such as AIDS, vaccination, and the Pentium 4.

Is this a mod or something available in game? Wizardry 6 has a pretty nice automap mod that someone made a few years ago, but it opens in a separate window.
>>
Any person here could pick up C or C++ today, spend a year learning the rudiments, spend 3 years working on their own dungeon crawler, and then release it. It would come out before Grimoire for sure and it would probably have more content that the latest Grimoire demo.
>>
>>383521136
do you even need c++ or something for that? there are programs out there designed to help you make your own dungeon crawler.

>>383521115
This is normal dos version of W6. The automap mod is a separate program which reads W6's memory allocation and draws map based on that. Works well with Dosbox.
