Why are dating sims so much more popular in Japan than in America?

For a while the bioware dating sims were popular.

japanese lack a sense of being loved in their life. the work culture and the fact that everyone is expected to lower themselvs to the common good leaves them with low self steem.

an american may consume a dating sim for the porn. a japanese will consume a dating sim for the sense of being loved by an aritificial perfect woman.

Because of lifestyle in Japan that is heavily focused on work. Some people can work even 80 hours a week (sometimes even more). They don't have any social life and the only fake bit of happiness they can get is from playing a dating sim where they get to meet/get into relationship with cute girls.

I don't care what the hell they like or not. What matters is if I like it and feel as if I should spend money on it. They jizzed all over Breath of the Wild, and I feel like it's an 8/10 at best. They think Valkyrie Drive is sub par, I think it's good.

I'm focusing on japanese games focused on fan service; which is the topic of this thread. What the hell do you think is going to happen if something like Love Plus was ever localized for North America? You saw the dumbass rambling that Jed shat out when Valkyrie Drive was released on Steam? Kuchera dropping the score for Bayonetta 2 just because he's alergic to boobs. Jim giving Deep Crimson a 3/10 and spending most of his review whining about the fanservice and not talking about the gameplay.

Metacritic is a whole different can of worms in regards to the issues that I have with it.
