In my restless dreams, I see that town.Silent Hill thread.
You promised to take me there again someday...
But you never did.
Well... I'm alone there now.
In our special place.
Waiting for you...
Here's the guide. Don't know if there's an updated version.

Silent Hill 1 is the best. True horror, no psychological therapy bullshit. Just you, your pipe and the monsters.
>>383508787
>you, your GIANT FUCKING HAMMER, and dead monsters
Fixed that for you. I am Harry, Struggling Novelist and Destroyer of Worlds.
>>383508787
I agree it is definitely scary. For me, the scariest moment in the entire series is in 3, when you fightMemory of Alessa. That entire sequence scared the absolute shit out of me when I first played, and I'm not sure why; there are lots of other sections, even in the same, that seem like they should be more frightening. Can't explain it.
>>383508685
>>383508951
SH4's subtext is totally all about Henry working up the courage to have a chance at boning Eileen. Keep at it, Henry! You can do it!
>>383509067
Henry had his chance with another woman and blew it.
A new Silent Hill is coming out, right?
>>383509717
>blew his chance at a willing sex partner because of his awkward nature
>spends the next several weeks creepily spying on his cute neighbor through a peephole, watching her sleep, change clothes, and watch TV among other things
Henry truly is /ourguy/.
>>383508935
>le if it's scary is good meme
book of memories for vita is on sale now. how is it? obviously its no sh2 or even 1, but is it worth a look?
also, does anyone know whether the eu/au psn store version of sh1 runs like the ntsc version? most emulated ps1 games are super shitty pal 25fps versions, but a few (re3) are the american versions. i'm hesitant to buy any ps1 emu versions since sotn was shitty 50hz.
>>383509987
Hopefully not.
>>383510675
What do you mean "Hopefully not"?
>>383510652
I played the demo months ago and it was a passable Diablo clone in a pseudo nu-Silent Hill skin. If you go in expecting that, it will probably be okay.
>>383510762
Hopefully, there will not be anymore Silent Hill games.
>>383508685
I wonder what would happen if you send a unapologetic, arrogant, murderous, damn good, cock-sure mother fucker to Silent Hill?
>>383512013
I wondered that, too. Would Silent Hill still produce nightmares or would they just see a regular town?
>>383508787
Definitely my favorite
>>383508951
the hell?

If someone's once again new to this PC gaming stuff: Use a program like DaemonTools Lite to mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
in case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 happens to fail to launch (black screen), close it and restart it. It should get fixed and run fine eventually.

I actually just finished 4 yesterday, started it a year ago but stopped in the middle of forest world 2. got quite a bad ending. killed like 360+ enemies, is that normal?
>>383510652
>super shitty pal 25fps versions
Rude, some games are actually optimized for the difference in framerate.
Is SH1 really the NTSC version? I don't see the murrica flag, does this mean it's not multi5?
Don't click this spoiler.

Unlike SH2 or 3, I killed almost every non-ghost enemy in Silent Hill 4.
Mainly because the game's combat and enemy placement was already such a huge pain in the ass, especially leading around Eileen, that I did everything I could to clear space and allow for fast running. I think the exception were a few places where i left the stupid-as-shit dogs live.
SH4 is so fucking frustrating. I thought that SH3's "infinite knockdown slurper surprise" was bad, but the loss of tank controls + wonky camera + enemy mobs + unkillable ghosts made me rage like no other SH game did.
Speaking of killing lots of enemies, is it possible to do a SH2 playthrough wherein you kill all killable enemies without having to use a melee weapon? Is there enough ammo for that? I wanted to try completely wiping out every monster I find. Do they ever respawn?
>>383512876
you only get PAL stuff from EU PSN Store. Period.
Also, if you got a black background main menu in SH1, you again got the PAL version.
>>383513382
I somehow doubt that, unless you play on Beginner or something.
For starters, you get your first gun something like an hour into the game, and you NEED to pummel your first enemy.
AFAIK, at least the out-doors enemies respawn and are partially randomized.
>>383513073
Well... I'm fucked.
>>383512860
>>383513280
my result, 346 not 360+
>>383513446
this is wrong. resident evil 3 and some other games are the american versions. they have a usa flag in the upper left corner so you know.
dont spread misinformation, faget.
>>383513942
First time I've heard or seen this, and I've bought tons of shit from PSN.
At least SH1 definitely is split between NTSC and PAL versions, depending on where you buy it. I have both of them on my PS3.
>>383513446
>you only get PAL stuff from EU PSN Store. Period.
What? There are plenty of NTSC titles on the EU store, like the Spyro series, Klonoa, Tomba and other Japanese only PS1 games. Please don't spread disinformation.
>>383514226
besides the Jap import section, the rest are news to me. And again, SH1 definitely is PAL on EU store, NTSC on US store.
>>383514613
Cool, thx.
>Played Silent Hill 2 and 3 recently
>Really enjoyed both as they both delivered unique experiences
>Too scared to pick anything else up incase it's shit and shatters the experience
>No more Silent Hill games being made
>>383513880
ouch, that ending... At least it's somewhat thematically appropriate!
If you ever wanted to play the game again, you have to, IIRC, make sure Eileen is all healed up before the final boss, and how many spooks you exorcise from your apartment. i was pretty fastidious with getting rid of all of them as they appeared, though by the end of the game, some of them repeat, meaning you that you will eventually run out of items to sanctify your apartment.
>>383515061
You have SH1 to play man. Get to it.
SH4 semi-optional. If you love the others you will want to see the last bits of creativity in the series, but you will be upset at the many design choices, all while you love the plot.
>>383515061
don't tell me you skipped SH1, the most important game in the series??
Also, SH4 is totally worth checking out. It's different, but still pure Team-Silent goodness, and definitely spooky.
I was also quite fond of Shattered Memories. Not really a "survival horror" game, but a great experience of its own none the less.
