Been trying to get into NetHack. FTL is allegedly good but I don't know anything about it.

I actually haven't played most of those. I like Nethack and reaaaally like FTL

One-Way is a twist. There's a constant wall of darkness advancing from the left side that instant kills you, so most of the challenge is having to keep moving while picking up items and the exp you can. There's a lot more content than you initially think. OWH+ is cheap on steam.

Cataclysm is more based on survival than advancing through dungeons. The endgame is to build a sustaining shelter and your exp gain is based on your characters overall comfort. Zombie survival done as a Roguelike. It gets some flak because the devs have some furry pandering shit in the game, but I elect to ignore it as the game itself is good.

There's also Elona which I forgot to mention. Elona is very interesting, it's a Roguelike without Permadeath, where the goal is to keep building up your base and character while exploring a fantasy world. It's also translated from Japanese so a lot of translations make the game absolutely hilarious.

For a game that focuses on combat, the combat looks like trash. Nice atmosphere, though.
