Don't remind me. It felt a bit melancholy in the later chapters when almost no one was around.

How's Last Window, by the way?

Congrats anon. It's a nice game.

>>383494472
Last Window's pretty good too. I liked it.
>>
>>383494472
Pretty solid, though it's hard to match the characters from the first game. Translation can be a little clunky because euros can't really reproduce natural-sounding American dialogue.
>>
Last Window is pretty much the same. Even better if you ask me.
There is a spiritual succesor for the 3DS, but it's not the same.

Last Window is good too. It does feel like they used some of the same character archetypes though which felt like retreading steps that were already made. There's also a girl in it that made my heart throb upon seeing her.
>>
>>383495123
Was it the waitress chick?
>>
>>383495102
You mean that cold case game or whatever it was called, right? I heard it's incomplete (and may remain that way since it apparently bombed pretty hard).
>>
>>383495241
Yeah, the coy way she moves just made me flinch for a moment.
>>
>>383494290
Last Window makes me wanna live in an apartment and go to the local diner for steak
>>
>>383495251
Chase. Yeah. It tries really hard to be Hotel dusk again. But it just doesn't quite make it.

It's also short. Which wouldn't be a bad thing. If it wasn't for the fact both Hotel Dusk and Last window were significantly longer titles.
>>
>>383495251
Haven't finihed it, but it doesn't look incomplete.
Don't kow about the sale figures, but it was obvious it was foing ot flop on the west.
>>
>>383495409
She kept throwing herself out there for our man Kyle. I wanted him to get in on that, she was just adorable. Too bad he's a jaded ex-cop and refuses to show any sort of emotion. :(
>>
>>383495519
Diner steaks can be hit or miss. A burger is a much safer option

Last Window is a let down compared to Hotel Dusk. It doesn't advance the story AT ALL, Hyde remains gay for his partner instead of banging his secretary, and a lot of the game design in Last Window is made up of traps and inconsistent gameplay. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with it.

So who let Jenny return to Dunning at the end of the first game? Robert Evans was a piece of shit (and dead) and Nile probably wouldn't do it,
so was it Bradley who somehow freed her?

Did you get the good ending, OP? I was never sure of the requirements for it. I didn't get it the first time, and I got it the second time with little difference between the two plays... Or the other way around. It's probably been a decade.

Kyle really needs to fuck Rachel. Shit man, get on that pusy.

One of my favorite silly moments from my first playthrough:

>that skank in the sweater (Grace?) asks me to meet her in the bar
>asks to have a drink with me
>think to myself "aw yeah, Kyle is a player"
>strut over to the jukebox
>turn on the sexy sax music
>go over to her to chat
>all the sudden she unloads her personal baggage and life story on me
>music changes anyway to sad music
>get cockblocked by the game itself

Women man. Get a little close and then all the sudden it's nothing but their problems.

Hearing about going to the bar reminds me of moving through the hotel and hearing this super sweet music.

Really puts me at ease. Agree with Kyle needing to bed Rachel, maybe he's just trying to avoid shitting where he eats.

I think the good ending requires no game overs as well as some other side things being completed.
It's a shame that the company didn't manage to stay afloat. It had some really compelling stories with both Another Code and Hyde's adventures. Like, it managed to write some really convoluted stuff, but played it straight without going too hard on the archetypes.
>>
God I wish there were a third game, making it a trilogy, wrapping the story up
Last Window was so fucking good

I enjoyed Trace (or w/e it was called - once again over a decade), but man, fuck the conditions for the good ending. It is like examining every single object multiple times to trigger the memories of your autistic Casper shota.
>>
Louis was a top tier bro. That bit at the end where Hyde says they're partners really made me smile.

So for those that played, how long did it take you to "figure out" the light-switch ""puzzle""?

Puzzles were absolute shit tho.
>playing on emulator
>that fucking part where you have turn on 2 switches at the same time
>>
>>383499359
That was bullshit because if you knew how resistive touchscreens work then logic tells you what you're actually supposed to do shouldn't work. You'd have to be oblivious to how touchscreen technology works to think of doing what it wants you to do in the first place.
Also, it's specially painful to do when emulating.

Hotel Dusk is the only VN I was able to get into. There is something relaxing about the moving portraits. Many visual novels and those weeb games that have 2 static portraits for cutscenes always fail to deliver the same kind of vibe and expression this game has

Ok I'm gonna post get ca use I feel like the games here are related to pic related.

this game was really short and ended weirdly. I felt I was playing chapter 1 rather than the entire game.

Now I came here to ask, are there other games in this series im supposed to play to understand its ending more?
>>
>>383501120
IIRC it was supposed to launch a series but no one bought it.

No. Chase is basically a standalone game. The chances of it getting a second game are low as fuck.
>>
>>383501120
You were playing chapter 1, it was supposed to be the launch of a series, but it bombed.
>>
It's kinda weird how Summer and Helen are the two most irrelevant characters to the central Nile/Osterzone plot, but I found them to be some of the most compelling.
>>
> nintendo could re-release the Hyde games for the 3ds
> the sales could be a great indicator of if the series could continue
> they'll never do it
Seriously what the fuck, adventure games are perfect for the 3ds since you can go full digital and have a better profit margin and The Last Window didn't even make it stateside so it'll have a better chance at pulling sales.
But hey this is the company that can't even get the virtual console right

Every character in the game is pretty well-written. I really enjoyed Martin Summer's pompous attitude mixed with his deep, deep regret over being a hack. I do like that he got to have a "happy ending" in the non-game related material when it's revealed that he wrote a best-selling novel based on the events of Hotel Dusk.

I always found it amusing that Kyle Hyde magically ends up in Hotel Dusk and proceeds to solve the life problems of about a dozen of its assorted random strangers in the manner of a weekend.

This guy right here is the biggest douche though. What a shithead. Doesn't deserve such a sweet daughter.
>>
>>383502363
Yeah, Kevin's not very likable, but considering everything he went through, it's pretty understandable that he'd be kind of... drained, in general. Hopefully meeting Kyle and Iris helps him pull himself out of his slump.
