I don't even know why most turn based JRPGs bother giving poison skills to the player. I think some bosses in the Persona/SMT games I played can be poisoned but the chance is so low it's not even worth it. I guess those status effects are designed to be used by enemies only, but they give to the player to have more skills in the game.

Has any game gone all the way with this setting? If your Gun skill is low, artificial inaccuracy is there to say that the character is worse at guns then the player is, sure. But on the other side a really high gun skill should provide a chance to automatically hit the target since now the character is better at shooting than the player is at that point.

Sure. But if you spend a few hours with the game a lot of the critisms people have against DaS fall off. Imo. More fair critisms I think would be stuff like the dragon in the first area of DaS that is an insta kill for new players most of the time and other stuff like that.

And what I don't get is that usually its small things being exaggerated into being big flaws when mechanically and balance wise the game is alright. It has flaws but they again, in my opinion, are greatly exaggerated.

That's pretty much how I felt playing New Vegas on very hard with hardcore mode enable.
I could take pretty much any enemy down, but it was such a slog and felt more like a waste of my time.

I don't know if it's is specific to souls games but it was the last series I saw that had a major problem with this:
Attacking an enemy chaining together some hits only to have them completely ignore an attack so they can hit you back. They don't block, they don't counter and they don't dodge. It's seriously dumb to expect that the attacker should be the one to have to retreat from a combo if they still have the stamina to continue the onslaught.

this, ive heard about it in world of tanks of having your tank barrel right against another tank and still miss, and ive see shots on warships hit for no damage or go through the enemy ship. I once hit a cruisers in my Cleveland 55 times and did just under 2k damage with HE.

Missing hits has never seemed as big a problem to me as enemys just seeming to get more attacks in general... Watching as something like Rain of Whips hits all my characters, crits two causing stress to all of them and bleeds three for damage over time. Gee, he gets to do that for the entire battle? Oh now guy behind him has used Blanket Fire to do more damage to all my characters in another move, how many attacks is that in just two moves?
