Video games went from a hobbyist past-time to a main-stream "life-style". There were those who spent every waking moment playing them, yes, but even back then the number of people who considered themselves "gamers" were in the dozens. We loved playing games so we played games; we didn't have such access to the internet so we searched flea markets or game shops to further our hobby, and we never went out of our way to speak about it.

This injection of politics and liberal agenda is the work of "nerd culture" becoming mainstream enough to warrant a divide in stances -- this is aimed at all those ironic gamer guys and girls who poised so much they brought in legitimate retards who believed in their ideals. Western gaming has stagnated 4 years ago and will only become worse unless the original hobbyists become the majority again -- which I doubt since they're either dead. dying, or married, so in the meantime I'll continue enjoying my Japanese-based games.
