Basically everything besides P5 and BotW. Both of those games have major problems that drag them down but I still had a ton of fun with them and would give them a solid 9.2 or so.
Nier Automata was good but I ended up enjoying Taro's input more than Platinum's which is crazy, Nioh was okay I guess, RE VII was good but friendly reminder that the RE VII DLC is STILL not fucking out, For Honor, Prey, Andromeda, Injustice 2, Halo Wars 2, Gravity Rush 2, Yooka Laylee, The Surge, Torment: Tides of Numenara, the list of mediocre titles goes on and on.

Nier was about overt emotion and camaraderie while Automata was more about implicit feelings and the mentality of isolation. While the way Nier handled its content wasn't as good, it was FAR more relatable and likable. IE, Automata's subjects and focus make it inherently less likable to most people. Automata for one, has abysmal combat, but since you're coming from the original Nier, your standards have been set so low it probably seems like masterclass gameplay to you.
The open world is so half assed they may has well not even bother, and the rendering is terrible.
You know what you do most of the time in automata? Fucking backtracking, long tedious mind draining backtracking. The world is so lackluster with absolutely nothing in it, all it serves is unnecessary padding, I wouldn't have such a problem with it if it didn't just serve the purpose of putting needlessly long empty space between point A and point B.
The melodrama is laughable and the "deep philosophy" is just trivial shit everyone already knows.

If I wasn't at work I'd write a dissertation on it, but the changes are mostly surface level. The way the game is structured is still nearly identical to P4 and the character writing still lacks individual character agency and complex dispositions/group nuance. Given that the social sim aspect is one of the game's biggest draws and the structure was the biggest problem with 3 and 4, that's pretty fucked.

It's disappointing because, after nearly a decade, the team simply polished the least important aspects (presentation and QoL) instead of examining the faults that we're already a little grating back in 6th gen.
