I don't know if /v/ praises it but it's got a ton of positive reviews of Steam and it's absolutely terrible. Really want my $4 back.

Honestly game would've been better to me if it wasn't for those god awful load times combined with the insta-deaths.

Yeah, I've got a few:

>funky controls
Stopping completely to 180, no speed between slowly walking and full sprint, climbing and mounting feel scripted, like I'm not even in control. Sort of got the hang of them later on but still less than ideal
>respawning enemies
I thought Far Cry 2 was bad but having guys respawn literally 20 feet behind you gets annoying, I'm not entirely against respawning so long as it's predictable but it's predictable in the sense that the area won't ever be free of Uruks for more than a minute
>game just throws you into everything
Not even sure what happened in the intro, one minute I'm talking to my wife or some shit and then there's a ghost inside me. Don't think I've ever felt so immediately directionless in a game

i dont think its a bad game, but i will list my problems:
-all your problems
-combat becomes trivial and is generally unsatisfying
-ending
-shallow and arbitrary perk system (i literally ignored it)
-plot

It's a bad game but the nemisis system is great. If Shadow of War is just nemisis in a good game i'd call it a GOTY contender for sure.

even the nemesis system is eh. it doesnt make the gameplay more in depth. its just fun experiencing it and fucking with it, which is good, but the praise it gets is definitely too much.

No it isn't. The nemesis system is purely a checklist. I never gave a shit about any orcs in the list. And orcs respawn and go back to the bottom rungs of the list so killing them doesn't mean anything
