CdO defense is an ugly one. What I do is lay down a bunch of unarmed grenades on the entry point, then throw a nade down when they arrive. Sets all the nades off off at once. I suppose a mine would work better still, but yeah just never bother with em.

Can't remember the last time I played without the Blue Sun Mod but I think in the stock game the Carbines and AR's start showing up around CGL 6-8

If you want to see your CGL (Current Game Level) press Tilde / ~ and type "CGL".

If you want to skip the CGL ahead type "CGL (number 1 to 16)" and press enter, then wait 18-24 hours for the Traders/Shops to start carrying that CGL's weapons and items.


Don't forget to set the CGL back to previous number when you are done- unless you want to fight dozens of enemies at once with late game weapons and armor.

convoy one is having one merc have long range guns 3 use smg and the other 2 rifles, theres always 2 guys who charge with grenades so you need the smgs to kill them, have the long range guy run into the border of the map to snipe their snipers and thats all is a cakewalk.

I once had one of my mercs ambushed from the back on the "retake your base from USA" part, the soldier got either injured on the hand or ran of ammo, so he magdumped him with his side arm and holy shit i was surprised he only took 1 of damage at every bullet.

Honestly this is the big thing preventing me from really enjoying the game and playing through it in like one sitting. It's obnoxious having a 3 on 15 battle in the early game when the enemies seem to ignore rounds going by them while all your guys panic from having a dozen guys pop out of the bush 20 meters out. I still have nightmares about the "tourists" from BSM.

What's the best difficulty to play at? When I first tried playign the game, the way it describes difficulty makes it sound like all the hard mode does is turn off arbitrary bonuses for the player, but when I tried playing on hard, I was constantly getting killed from all the way across the map in a single shot by every enemy who all seemed to be capable of aiming way faster than any unit I had and I found the only really viable tactic to be sitting in houses with a gun trained on the door waiting for someone to come in.

Possible I'm just shit, but it really seemed like the game was way too difficult on hard.

There's not much you can do besides adapt to the enemy's tactics. Until you get a character familiarized with a weapon and some experience there's not much you can do about the AI. They seem to ignore the adrenaline system your characters are constrained by. So far I've had the best success with hit and run tactics, if there's a group try and get within grenade range and bail out of there after you throw it, should be able to get a few and at least flush them out of cover for your guys to get a good shot off.

Not him, but I struggle to find ANY useful cover outside of the urban maps. The collision boxes on the trees and rocks are way too huge to use them as effective cover half the time, so the character is forced to stand 5 feet off the side of it.any recommendations on how to handle that?

If I remember right CGL 3 is starting to become postwar SMGs and late war battle rifles right? Just have fun with those, shotguns are pretty rad in the early game and have realistic ranges. My personal favorite weapons are 7.62 Tokarev SMGs and handguns, thanks to it being poorman's 5.7.

This is a fun game. It has that "so bad it's good" vibe going on, but it's actually pretty good. Hard as fuck, some of the enemy groups are both pro-snipers and elite strategists both at the same time. It's also great when you shoot with a shotgun, and the pellets will actually spread and hit anybody who happens to be on their trajectory.

I wish the cities were more alive though, all the apartments are empty as fuck and the streets have barely anything going on.

pointed out, but if you're gonna be murdering on the go you should use the "ready weapon" command (default key is P) which allows you to move around with the weapon raised at the cost of extra stamina loss.
