Hey fellas, is there a safe place to get Nintendo ROMs now that EmuParadise is neutered? I was looking forward to playing Ninja Gaiden for the first time.

If not, should we all compile files into a MEGA folder or something?>

After rewatching the Evil Dead trilogy for the 50th time, I decided to finally emulate the three Evil Dead video games that came out for the PSX and PS2.
Right now I'm on the first one, Evil Dead: Hail to the King. Gameplay is a crock of shit — you don't even use the joysticks to move, you use Up and Down on the D-pad to move forwards or backwards respectively, and you use Left and Right to steer you on the spot. To make matters worse, they waste a perfectly-good face button (Triangle) by devoting it solely to quips. Literally, all the Triangle button does is make Ash fire off a random quip (voiced by Bruce Campbell himself!). This isn't even getting into the terrible combat.
I'm just doing this because, apparently, the next two games are a lot better (and also voiced by Bruce Campbell) and I can't bring myself to skip any game in a series.
>>
>>383463726
All the Nintendo IP titles have been DMCA'd as of a month or two ago. The mighty has fallen
>>
Persona 5. After the latest experimental build the only thing that runs shit is the anime cutscenes. I just have a youtube video of all of them that I hit play on when I encounter one in-game, then skip it instead of sitting through 3 FPS. Just finished first palace.
>>
>>383463752
>Why does it look clear as fuck compared to other images I've seen of the game?
You know what, never mind. It actually is better all around. I just looked up other images of the game at 1080p but interlaced and holy shit that's bad. I thought interlacing only affected things in motion so I guess I was wrong about that.

Well shit, I didn't know it was that much of an improvement when I first tried it.
>>
>>383464001

>>
>>383464048
No interlacing is like, half the pixels vertical. If anything you see it more in screenshots than in motion. But wow that worked really well. You're using that tool asmodean or whoever made, right? I remember an anon mentioning it for another game I can't recall. Or maybe it was the same one you're playing.

Can you link it? I've seen many people ask about that game's blur in the past.
>>
>>383464001
Normal cutscenes work fine. It's just the full on anime ones. What's the difference between watching said anime in 1080p on youtube and emulating the cutscene?

the lined boxes around the UI/HUD.

I found it on reddit. It also works for Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2.

>that "fake" motion blur in like every PS2 game
Huh?
Ancient DOF effects often look bad, namely the ones Square made. They just don't upscale properly.

>>383464523
Oh this is just a code. The thing I'm thinking of was something to brute force something or other. It worked for some games, not for others. Handy though, thanks.
>>
>>383463628
Is there ANYTHING I can do to get rid of that awful afterimage shit?
>>
>>383464603
Nah, that's part of the game. It's fucking annoying and that's kinda what I meant by the fake motion blur here >>383464435. Maybe someone will make a mod for it someday but I don't know how that would work or when that could come.

I don't understand why a lot of games used it. There were quite a few PSP games that did too.

Finished FF9. not sure if i should Replay BoF3/4 or play Crash Bandicoot, just because.

also, just heard about PGXP, so wondering if anyone can help me; do I just replace the .dlls as instructed, or do i have to re-install PCSXR? do i have to mess around with the config for it to properly work? did it by just copy and pasting the dlls as instructed in the forum, and the graphics started acting up in FF9.

fyi i was playing at 800x600 in windows mode (it helps grinding for levels while you mute the emulator while watching something else on the other half of the screen) with most settings at max (because why not?)

Pretty common in older 3D fixed-camera horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill

>>
>>383468702
The way you move. Tank controls refers to holding a direction to move forward instead of wasd being forward back strafe left strafe right. Holding W means going up, A means going left etc.

It's a game meant to be used with a controller but you see my point hopefully.

It's a contentious point for newer players that grew up post RE4 and were too young during the PS1 / PS2 era where tank controls were fairly ubiquitous. So people complain about the classic Resident Evils not being a third person kinda game.

I was just finishing 8th grade when PM hit, and that shit always looked tight as fuck, maybe it was different with my friends in comparison to everyone else, but Yoshi's Story set the bar for garbastic babby Nintendo shit in a way that made the rest of their library seem pretty mature in comparison, and everyone fucking loves Yoshi's Island - a game where you're Yoshi in a cutesy pastel wonderland with an actual baby

EGM being excited about it also helped it's appeal, same with Conker too, because they were known for being rightfully-vocal about Nintendo's bullshit N64 library and kids-only focus

Are PS2 Emus really that bad? I've been playing Persona 4 with an Xbone controller on PCSX2, on a 940m i5 Laptop, and it plays fine. There's a slight slowdown in large areas like the north shopping district, but other than that, it runs fine in battles, dungeons, and cutscenes. Never had any kind of input lag or compatibility issues, I only needed to tweak a few of the settings.

Nigger I don't give a shit about the menus being stretched as long as the 3D objects aren't. You literally can't even use the progressive scan mod without having the widescreen patch on anyway, since that's how it's activated.

I'll take the hit to stretching menus and HUD elements if it means taking out the fucking ugly interlacing which is generally far worse.

Last time I checked, Yakuza games still didn't work properly, you either play in shitty native res, or you're missing the entirety of the bloom effects (or have them displaced by a few pixels, or have a black line across the screen).

For PS1 most recommend PSCXR, with Pete's OGL2 2.9 graphics plugin and Eternal SPU 1.41 sound plugin. Mednafen is praised as well but it's a command-line emulator so be prepared to open that manual.
However I've had some issues with PSCXR. For example, the water and tiger levels in Crash Bandicoot 3 had this weird shake effect on the camera that pretty much made those levels unplayable. I didn't have this issue with ePSXe with the same plugins.
