Is this an action visual novel, like Radical Dreamers or something? That's kind of cool.

Convince me to play star control
>>383460540
Spathi bolting from the starbase and taking their zero-skill ships with them is the ultimate antique casual filter
By that point, you should have autotrack modules and Orz ships as it is
>>383460356
linear cutscenes
I dont want to have to click back through 17 different dialogue options to actually read their bullshit.
Even fucking worse if I have to save and reload when some dialogue options make others permanently unavailable.

why isn't friends with ster anymore?
>>383463237
Because he's a cynical cunt and Jerma got fed up.
>>383462334
is this just a rare occurrence of multiple jerma fans in the same thread or is he just getting more popular
where my fellow jerms at

Mass Effect 1 is like a triple A remake of Star Control 2
>>383463330
it is pretty sad, i just found about ster and jerma and watched their videos nonstop and turns out they don't even talk to each other anymore

Some of the most interesting characters and compelling worldbuilding ever, ayy lmaos that are actually realistic and varied and not just [Human but X] with great writing where you can be a merciless cockhead or totally reasonable guy as you choose. Dialogue is well written and the jokes are hilarious.
The resource management is tough but reasonable, with some great caches but everything is preset.
Star Control 3 is widely reviled, but I found it to be really good if you completely separate it from the preceding game (it butchers the canon like nothing else)

Star Control is largely obsolete because ship combat is available in SC2 Super Melee mode. And in terms of SC2, you should use The Ur-Quan Masters version: the devs open sourced the game and it has since been ported to modern operating systems, there's no reason to play the original DOS version. http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
Anyhow, the game features interesting aliens and memorable, nice space combat with unique ships that tie in really well with the personality of the species (for example, the Spathi are cowards, and their ship excels at running away with high speed and rear-firing missiles), great music and it's a generally really charming and flavorful game. You can freely explore the galaxy following clues and talking to aliens, and while doing so you learn about events both ancient and past (the reasons for the antagonists acting as they do, and what you have to do to stop them), and your apparent freedom isn't there just for show unlike your average open world game. For example, your actions may start or influence wars and that actually causes their fleets to move from their home systems, and if you take your time, the antagonists will wipe out all sentient life in the galaxy.
You could say it's like Mass Effect, but good.
Why didn't /v/ tell me about this game? It's great.
Whoops. Wrong image.
