Never got the hate for Son of the Mask. Is it some sort of pleb-filter? Also, a Mask game made by Platinum would be sweet. Would it revolve around the first one's plot or Son of the Mask?

That's stupid. The mask doesn't lend itself well to a video game medium and Platinum's usual over the top action specialty goes even less in line with the mask's style.
Unless you base it off the comic mask and make it about a new character who's id is all about being violent AND stylish. Like some weeb finds the mask and it brings out his anime fantasies.

As someone who read the comics, Son of the Mask is actually pretty fucking close to the comics compared to the original movie. The original movie was kind of this huge love letter to the comics that went all over the place, "The Mask" actually swapped hands pretty fucking frequently. Stanley Ipkiss was a punk bitch who only had it for a couple issues, so I'm kinda shocked the movie and cartoon series were all about him.

It's been years since I've seen the movie but remember at the end when the mobster dude got the mask? That's actually what 90% of the comic was, just edgy as fuck 90's shit. I vaguely remember some issue where the guy in the mask is threatening a kid for no real good reason other than "nothen personnel"

I think it's okay for the movie to be its own thing. It conveys the chaotic qualities and maintains a dark edge while not restricting itself to the source material strictly. Comic book strict movies were generally meteorically bad before we had this cash cow renaissance, which almost influenced the decisions made in regards to the adaptation.
There also isn't really anyone else that can pull off faces like that, and move as fluidly between them, as Jim Carrey.

I would be okay with this.

We no longer live in the SNES era where every piece of shovelware having to be a 2d platformer. That said, what genre of games could The Mask be best suited for?
I can see him being a character in a traditional 2d fighting game, or maybe a Spiderman meets Saints Row-esque sandbox mission game, but I honestly don't think his gags, gimmicks, and personality would translate well into a game. If they were moves or skills, they would just be too repetitive.

It be hard to pull off, but if I were to play a mask game I'd want it to be an interactive story similar to a telltale game. Whenever a choice or action would come up you'd be given a whole lot of choices, but very little time to choose, and they'd all be pretty vague, just like "Avoid", "harm", "humiliate", "Show off", etc. With a few odd ones mixed in like "dance', or "limbo". scenes would play out different depending which you choose and have chosen in the past. Playing it would be kinda of like an ink blot test and give you a feeling for what it would be like if you, the player, were wearing the mask.
