What would your ideal Final Fantasy game be like?
idk 9 i guess
A proper sequel to Chrono Trigger
I don't want to hear no shit about Chrono Cross
3D FFV
IX
Already been made.
>>383452809
High fantasy
Job system that works like FFV
ATB
Moderate sized pool of characters to choose from
No real MC.
>>383452809
7 but with better writing, godlike action combat, and no grinding elements.
IX is good but kind of falls apart after the first disc. Also the villain and story could be a heck of a lot better but the music is top notch and I appreciate the artsyle.
>>383452809
FFXV's kind of semi-modern setting
Make the Empire not actually the bad guys, for fucks sake.
Enough team members to make the composition matter, while not hindering character stories. 6-8 would likely work, with 4 in the field.
Make Summons a Job based thing with numerous smaller utility summons among stronger ones, rather than them all being fuckhueg trump card #4.
Bring back lots of varying Jobs rather than 'Ravager/Sentinel/Support' in XIII, or XV where there are no Jobs.
Keep XV's cooking and camping.
>>383454060
>wanting FF to be anything like XV
>>383454060
>XV
Into the trash it goes.
>>383454248
>>383454327
I bet you fucks will defend LR though.
>>383453389
I wish the four temples part had been grander and longer, it was so fucking cool but way too short.
>>383453192
I mean, that's literally Bravely Default.
Also FFV is the best FF and Brave Default is the best Bravely Default
>>383454381
>Tons of customization
>Actually challenge on normal
>Varied locations
>Unique time mechanic
>Dungeon that took advantage of said time mechanic
>Good OST
Far from the best but much better than XV, I'm actually impressed that LR managed to do open world better than XV.
>>383454381
Never played it personally. Couldn't be worse than XV though.
>>383454060
>>383452809
Looking at the general Final Fantasy archetype, I'd make the protagonist more down to earth, sort of like in a Final Fantasy XV setting but without ridiculous hair and outfits. And no voice acting, lots of writing with lots of dialogue choices. Interesting characters and enough to tell a story but not a dozen characters and three bonus ones (especially when only 4 are active). That's what made Chrono Trigger great over FFVI, is that it had fewer characters for a more well-rounded story. The Empire not being evil would be cool too but only as a second-act twist.
>>383454427
Don't worry after VII comes the IX remake.
>>383453614
The intro is so good though
So good
that's easy you just take the best stuff from each game
so
>XII's gameplay and world design
>Tactic's job system
>IX's everything else
shit that was easy
like FF9 but actually finished and with more fleshed out characters, and with a job system
IX with Materia system or FFT jobs.
>>383452809
Came here to say 9 but it looks like 20 other fags already did so I guess an MMO that's actually good would be my ideal ff
>>383454908
>XII's gameplay
pls no
>>383454598
>Game is literally 'Lightning is sewpur kewl savior gurl who can beat chaos all by herself even though she's partly to blame BUT OH NO GOD IS ACTUALLY EVIL BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE MUH LIGHTNING IS STRONGER THAN HIM, but don't worry, Hope will be sure to have a line for literally every little occurrence in the game SO MAKE SURE YOU LIKE HOPE!'
>>383454672
It had neat background mechanics and good visuals. The story and dialogue are borderline gutter trash. It also had literally zero team/job management, since you play as Muh Lightning and only Muh Lightning. Fights are literally 'If they don't die in one combo then find the enemy's weakness and spam the spell until they drop'
The only things that I meant to bring from XV were the setting partially (Which is more to say from the setting that was planned, rather than in the game), and the camping.
What's so good about IX? It was pretty dull all-round. They stopped trying after VII.
>>383455107
Can't say that IX didn't do "ADVENTURE and FANTASY" justice.
>>383452809
>The job system kinda like it was in FFV
>Turn Based ATB but with a few twists to make it actually matter
like CT's combo techs and area of effect and linear techs, cast times not being instant ala FF6, rolling hp\mp maybe, FF8's critical
>Either 3x3 or 5x5 team grids to make a combat a bit more tactical than just front row and back row.
>Non hostile encounters like traders or special events.
I'm more concerned about gameplay than anything like fantasy or sci fi.
100+ hours of watching Lightning try on bathing suits
A combination of the best elements from VII and IX as well as an ARG combat system like KH would be great.
>>383455145
HuH?! You looking for a fight jackass?
>>383455253
>ARG combat system like KH would be great.
Think you meant to say XV.
>>383452809
I long for the past. That said, I'd enjoy a totally new FF game that uses a 2D game engine and graphical style similar to FFVI or Chrono Trigger. Also, have the game bring back the classic ATB battle system.
Well, my favorite Final Fantasy game is Tactics and I enjoy the original and the PSP port. I guess to make it better, aside for some patch fixes, readd the spell cast and skill quotes.
Or to be different, make it full blown 3D and battles can play similarly to Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits. Maybe even add the option to personalize some of your units. Also mod friendly.
>>383455206
Anyone else here not attracted to lightning at all? Her hair color/style and personality really turn me off. She's also not curvaceous in any shape or form
The in-game graphics look like Yoshitaka Amano art.
Perfection.
>>383455384
thanks for the webm, now I know you're being sarcastic. Almost everything about XV was terrible. Pitioss was probably the best part... and it is one of the major things I see people bitch about online.
>>383455384
stop
>>383455612
>Pitioss was probably the best part...
Wow I bet you played like 3 puzzle games in your life and suddenly you're an expert.
>>383455559
Her face and skin are her only redeeming factors.
>>383452809
Not an action RPG.
>>383455612
I've never played KH but can you at least launch enemies in those games?
>>383452809
A world where ffxv didn't exist
FFXV but with more stuff to explore and fight.
>>383452809
Pretty much just X.
>>383455838
>FFXV but with
Into the trash it goes, I prefer my games finished.
Final Fantasy tactics 3D. please, it's been 9 years since advance 2 on DS.
>>383455728
I disagree, actually. She looks like just another soulless porcelain-faced doll that modern final fantasy seems to like so much. The last actual FF babe was Fang, imo.
>>383455702
What makes you say that?
Just to note: I said Pitioss was the best part, I didn't say it was great.
aeris getting ass raped by tifa with a strapon and barrett jacking off in the corner
id take character turns in VR with a VR pussy on my dick and a dildo in my ass for maximum authenticity
Finally at the end of the game
there will be red 13 running around with his kid like some kind of faggot
the end
>>383452809
The entire game is you playing as Gilgamesh beating the shit out of people and taking their weapons, so you can beat the shit out of tougher people to take tougher weapons.
This occurs within every Final Fantasy-verse, and in each one you fight your way up to the main protagonist (after beating the antagonist) to beat them up and take their signature weapon.
Enkidu is the only summon. Gilgamesh is the only Job.
>>383455780
yes
>>383456001
Aranea and Cindy were hot and Iris was cute
>>383455370
No I seriously don't get the appeal. Only interesting character was Vivi, the cities were nice, but the world map was barren, and all the other characters were forgettable.
>>383456190
So you're telling me that the game that XV was supposedly basing its combat off of had launchers in it but XV itself didn't.
The more things I learn surrounding this game the more I hate it.
>>383456241
Aranea is overrated as fuck desu
>>383456346
Still hot
>>383456346
Disagree.
Literally Final Fantasy X with new characters. FFX has the perfect formula.
>>383456292
For a game focused on aerial combat, it's really retarded that there are no launchers. You just jump around in the air pointlessly.
>>383456421
would be hot if she had an ass
>>383456346
I haven't played XV but I think she's pretty good looking
>>383456458
>Filename
Did you prefer the remastered OST to the original?
>>383452809
VII remake which is more stylized rather than hyperrealistic with true turn based combat. Fix the problems with the story, but don't alter it in really any major way. Available on Nintendo Switch
>>383456582
generic face
10 combat system (turns, swap)
7 materia
8 comfyness of being a student in a school
13 grafix
>>383456635
Not him but for the most part they sound a lot better but I don't think they necessarily fit the game as good as the original ones did, I love the new Besaid but it sounds more like something that would play at night when in the game it's day for example.
>>383452809
Less emphasis on technology and more on fantasy
Not edgelord protagonist, or at least someone more relatable and less boring
Either turn-based or fully action, being a little bit of both always feels like I'm not getting the best of each world, at least something like X-2 if it's the case
V's or Tactics job system or a job system that isn't ass for once
Short answer: X but better
>>383456663
I wish this was the version we were getting. I'd totally be onboard for pre rendered backgrounds and chibi overworld sprites. So more of a touched up modernized remaster instead of a remake.
>>383456813
Is it just me or did 13 look better graphically then 15 in a lot of parts?
>>383456813
Replace 7's materia with ff3's job system and 13's graphix with 12's artstyle and you just made a goddamn masterpiece
FF9 with VP's combat system.
>>383452809
tfw you come to /v/ for your ff fix because the final fantasy general in >>>/vg/ is just mobage talk nonstop and the forces that be won't do anything about it.
>>383456473
The combat really is a mess, I also felt like enemy telegraphs were incredibly hard to read.
>>383457052
XIII had way better art direction, but graphically XV is superior.
>>383456956
wow I actually agree with something on /v/ for once.
Not sure what a final fantasy with proper action combat would look like though, imo turn based is far easier to pull off well.
XII, except you're not in the desert, the gambit system is a little bit more complex, and you get way, WAY more money. You also drop the MMO drop rates and Strategy Guide Requiredâ„¢ super items.
This if it turns out good
Wouldn't mind something a bit like 9, but with something more fast-paced for the combat. Job system could be cool as well, as it does mean more replayability rather than just doing the same things for the party every playthrough.
>>383457221
>if it turns out good
literally not possible
>>383457256
>>383455109
XII unironically has the best gameplay. Anyone who says otherwise is a shit eater.
>>383457186
XII always felt more Star Wars than Final Fantasy to me.
>>383452809
FF7 but with gameplay more challenging than "spam Attack to win"
>>383457328
That's because the story is literally A New Hope.
>>383457328
XII's start is Star Wars X Aladdin.
I wish it had kept up that vibe
>>383457087
Speaking of which, what do you think of my 5* MP deck?

I would like another FF like III to be honest, just with some extra polish on technical stuff.
>>383457893
Never played III, what sets it apart from the others aside from having a final dungeon with no save points in it?
>>383458069
There's a savepoint halfway through, actually. There's a moment where you're outside, and you can use that moment to save.
Other than that, it's just very straight forward and has a job system. It's like Dragon Quest 3, mostly.
>>383456635
the original is ways better.
>>383457303
I'm in agreeance with you and I think it's funny how some people are looking at FF7:Remake - they're really wanting a remaster. Meanwhile with some remasters that have been released, some people are upset at the lack of overall change and that they're "paying for the same game but with updated graphics" which is what a remaster essentially is.
tl;dr Some people just don't know what the hell they want.
>>383458478
>tl;dr Some people just don't know what the hell they want.
Have you considered that these are different people
>>383452809
1) Job system balanced for steady progression throughout game and no end skills in the job that take vastly more AP to get than the rest of the job's skills. During a normal playthrough where you fight every encounter and do optional material (excepting any kind of end game bonus dungeon) you can expect to master 3-4 jobs without grinding.
2) Every character has some kind of unique skill independent of their job like in FF6, making them all unique in their interactions with the system. This might replace a few jobs, but not many. The unique skills don't strongly promote a particular set of jobs, like physical fighter, by relying heavily on stats.
3) Setting more along the lines of first six games than the later games.
>>383453470
so 12?
>>383458752
He said job system not grid that makes every character identical.
>>383456473
There's no launchers, no double jump, no traditional aerial dodge, and no air dash. What's extra retarded is that Noctis has animations that are in the game that could be used for all these actions, so their functionality could have been added with very little work if the controls were adjusted a bit, but instead they're locked to context sensitive actions.
>>383452809
Like Kingdom Hearts, but call it a Final Fantasy game.
Oh wait, they already made Final Fantasy XV, whew.
>>383458901
12 has had a job system since the not!international version, and the new Zodiac Age that just came out now allowed you 2 jobs at once.
>>383458069
It's a very primitive form of V basically. Personally I think it's the weakest of the NES games, if only because V exists and completely obsoletes it, but the fact that it was the first game with a real Job system makes it noteworthy.

>class system with subclasses and abilities

Really not asking for much
>>383452809
>Late Renaissance era aesthetic, kind of like 9.
>Carries on many of the traditions of the classic games while also incorporating elements from later games.
>A Job system that allows each party member to have a Main and a Support Job, like in XI
>You can unlock more Jobs by completing side quests as you go through the game
>Six party members, with each member's default Job being one of the six starting Jobs in FFI
>So, male Fighter, male Black Mage, male Red Mage, female Thief, female Monk, female White Mage.
>At the start of the game, you can choose which of the six party members you want to play as, giving a unique perspective at different points in the game depending on who you choose, so for example, if the party splits up, the player follows wherever the character they chose goes, and during cutscenes, only the internal thoughts of their character would be heard.
>Battle system would be ATB-based, where instead of MP, every action costs time points that drain your ATB gauge, so more powerful actions would cost more time points to use
>Main villain is a guy trying to start a war between the great nations of the world to get revenge on the world for some past tragedy, and he has some connection to all the six main party members
>Final dungeon is some abstract dimension embodying all the themes of the game
>New Game+ that lets you carry everything over to play through the default difficulty again
>An Expert Mode unlocked after beating the game that gives you access to all Jobs from the start, but enemies are much harder, requiring much more thought to how you build your party and coordinate in battle
>Traditional world map and a chocobo raising sidequest that gives you access to secret areas as your chocobo gains new abilities and changes color
That's about all I've got
>>383460186
9's story made plenty sense, it just kind of shrugged at the end by having the final boss be something that got an easily missable mentioning or whatever.
>>383452809

>>383461802
All of the cards in my deck are from events so unfortunately you can't get them anymore, but the Sage job and Y'shtola skin are in the summon pool permanently so you always have a chance at getting them.
>>383461802
Oh, and when I say they're from events I mean they're still summons, not like Cindy or Regalia where everyone gets a copy for free.

>>383462193
JP doesn't have Mobius days, they instead have a period of time every month where for a week or so every day is like Mobius day. One of the things they do during that period is refill your stamina at the daily reset and give you an extra (+88) on top of your maximum. That 88 adds up in MP if you don't use it. Here's my current MP stamina with the bonus from the last two or three Mobius weeks left over, since I don't really do MP.

Okay, I'll bite.
I'll tell you this. I know this game is shit, hell, I played it to laugh in it's face. But I did have 1 question in my head & asked, could this genre work in the FF franchise? Now FF has dabbled into other genres before, & I began to think of games similar to New Empire before they became Microtransaction husks on the phone & I gotta say, if Squire Enix wanted to dabble once more, with actual care this time & a good team, I think it could work, just as a full on game, no microtransactions. Sadly, this will be the only game that tries & fondly remembered as a laughing stock to FF fans & maybe gain a few fans once everything patches up since there is still a small following on the idea. But i doubt it. The game needs something akin to A Realm Reborn to fix this somewhat soulless cash grab.
