I've never understood people who complain about amiibos as a whole. Sure, if you look at it from the perspective of "just a way to lock content behind a physical paywall", they seem shitty, but that's not the point. The point is that they're, for the price, pretty detailed figurines of video game characters, ESPECIALLY in the case of characters who would otherwise never get figurines. Compared to standard western figurines, they're amazingly high quality (and generally cost less than even funko pops), and compared to Eastern products of relatively similar quality, they're extremely low priced.
I haven't touched my Wii U in ages; I hate a lot of Nintendo's new practices, and definitely don't intend to buy a Switch for some time, but I'm extremely glad that amiibos are a thing, as someone who loves collecting figurines and such but doesn't have the money to shell out for how much obscure video game characters' figurines would cost. If it weren't for amiibos, you probably wouldn't be able to get any sort of Splatoon figurines without spending hundreds.

I have the Volnutt one and it's breddy gud. You have to clip the hands off runners, but aside from that it's honestly a solid 6.5-7/10 figure on its own. A little more detailing would be nice but for a 4 inch it's not bad. I can try to take pictures but my setup isn't great for it.

Also the figure inside is listed on the top of the box, and if they're sold at hot topic I'll just get the ones I didn't find earlier.

I feel you there. The model-like I have falls apart as well. The joints are super basic on the 66 figs, but they don't fall off. Also the Volnutt fig comes with an open hand and a closed fist that you can swap out, which is more than what I thought I'd get out of the box.

There are people who drop their money on actual high quality statues, those PVC figs from Japan, those actually look good. I can look at a picture of one for over a minute or so, and admire the details put into it. Some of them also have the potential to make your dick rock hard depending on quality. And then there are Pops. You look at a Pop go, "AHAHA I RECOGNIZE THAT CHARACTER" and move on. They're ugly and just because they're cheaply made doesn't mean they can't look good.
