When Valve changed the w/v_model system to the c_model system and upgraded from DX8 to DX9 some minor visual details broke, and didn't get fixed because most people didn't notice them, and Valve prefers to dedicate their time to stuff that people will notice.

If anything, those changes were a result of Valve UPGRADING the graphics.

I don't think there should be "offensive classes" or "defensive classes" at all.

Not only is it blatantly false (Heavy can be quite useful on Payload offense, Engineer can be almost vital on Attack/Defend offense, and Scout can be super useful on defensive sides since he rarely has to worry about Sentries) but it's bad game design to lock players who enjoy playing a certain class to only be useful half of the time.

That's a fair point for Payload and Attack/Defend.
But not in 5CP, CTF, TC, RD, PASS Time or competitively played Koth.
The main reason that most of TF2's symmetrical game modes are so stalemate-prone is that we have dedicated "defense classes".

If all the classes were balanced to be more useful both on offense and defense, this problem would be solved.

As an example I'll give Team Fortress Classic. While they did have dedicated defense classes then too, the offense classes were so enormously mobile that CTF was still a workable game mode.

It's possible to make all 9 classes unique experiences without some of them being dedicated defenders.
Look at the way Quake 3 Arena handles its 9 weapons. Despite none of them being explicitly "offensive" or "defensive" weapons, they all have different playstyles.

For instance, how do you make Heavy better at offense? His main issues are his large hitbox, slow speed, and inability to do anything without a constant healing (medic).
How do we fix the heavy to be better on offense, without ruining the design him being a slow, large, high HP, requiring healing to defend. My biggest gripe, is a heavy has it easier on defense because he has easier access to health and ammo, a heavy on offense needs a medic, but how do we make it so the heavy doesn't need a medic, without making him OP?

Team Fortress as a series actually is descended from Quake. The original Team Fortress was a mod of Quake, and as such, both Quake 3 Arena and Team Fortress 2 share many weapon archetypes in common. That's why they make for a good comparison. Almost every Quake 3 Arena weapon slot behaves similarly in playstyle to a TF2 class. Obviously TF2 can never be fully like Quake 3 Arena, I agree with you there.

It's a good question. Honestly I'm still not 100% sure myself.
Focusing more on Engineer's supportive buildings would be good. Weaken the stock Sentry Gun, buff the Dispenser and Teleporter and building redeploy/haul times. This would make him more mobile on the battlefield.
People have also suggested ideas for alternative PDAs which include a speed boost pad to replace the Teleporter (so that in 5CP you could launch your allies to high speeds towards the frontline), or a backpack-mounted Dispenser that allows Engineer to heal people and supply ammo on the move, at a cost to his Sentry.

What about reducing/removing the spun-up speed penalty and buffing his accuracy, in exchange for reducing his HP to 250? He'd still be the slowest, largest, highest HP class in the game, but less drastically so. That would make him more useful on offense and less game-breakingly useful on defense.

Sentries have more HP than Soldier, are a literal aimbot, can be healed faster than a Medic can heal a player, and have the second highest DPS in the game after the Knife.

I do quite like soldier and don't think he needs to be changed but looking at it objectively he's just incredibly strong.

Starting off with the raw fact he 200 health and 300 at overheal, 4 shots aoe with that can do anywhere from 200-400 damage depending on range, respectable reload speed, effective at long-ish to short range.

I mean he has more health than a short range class like pyro for some reason, the fact he can just lob two rockets at the ground and kill pyro just eliminates pyro from competitive play entirely. The only reason demoman is picked in 6s is because at least he has some range to him

An Engineer is more useful on defense than any other class except maybe a Medic. That's what I mean by "super strong".

Because the pub game is currently balanced around Engineer's inherent defensive strength, you have stuff like 20 minute long cap times on the third stage of Dustbowl to compensate for Engineer's defensive strength. The game isn't broken in light of this, but it shouldn't need to be that way. And in modes where it's not explicitly balanced around Engie, even a single Engie can severely slow down the game since you need to waste a whole Uber to take down a lone lv3 Sentry.

And you agree with me that Engineer is game-breaking when you have multiple level 3 Sentries. This is why I think we should decrease the strength of the Sentry Gun and buff the strength of Engineer's supportive buildings.

Tbh the paints are actually appropriate to the 1960s era. There's nothing wrong with lime green considering you would have seen go-go dancers decked out in it in the day.

So I'm fine with the paints, I'm just not fine with how they're used. Lime greens and bright pinks should have been restricted to certain cosmetics.

I like playing Heavy with creative sets. Sometimes I tried to play assault Heavy for shit and giggles, I pick some alternative path alone, I pop up behind the enemy lines and make a mess.

Be more game accurate. All the other videos gave you hints about how to play the characters like Demo hiding his sticky bombs and sweeping blu team, soilder rocket jumping, or medic healing his entire team and not just pocketing heavy.
Meet the pyro didn't really give you an idea of what his play style is supposed to be. He just kills the entire team in non nondescript ways.
Also have the twist that he thinks he's playing in candyland be the final joke in the video instead of building the entire thing around it.

People clearly HAVE noticed or shit would not have side-by-sides as it is. Bottle no longer breaking and weapons no longer having physics after death is shit that is easily picked up on. The animation and model changes like demos nade launcher and medics syringe gun is easy spotting. The spy revolver shit is fucking egregious. The fact that the game runs like shit despite upgrading my computer twice since release is a fucking travesty.

The game is worse now even if I decided to play on a vanilla weapons only server. Worse still depending on attitude towards balancing. Fuck off with your 'lel autistic rants the game is still just as good' when it clearly is fucking WORSE after all these years. I'd rather fucking prefer playing an older version than play on the latest one on a vanilla weapons server. Fuck the matchmaking, fuck the UI, fuck the store, fuck the hats, fuck all these superfluous weapons, just fuck it. It's trash, and I played this shit on release.
