I like how every time some part of the town management got to a point where I thought it would get annoying, the game would introduce a way to help keep it in check

Downloaded and bought this on PSN when it was cheap. Don't have my PS3 atm but I did play through most of it and while I did have some issues with it, mostly that it's really slow and easy, also a tad boring, it's also pretty good as well. Holds up pretty damn well. I don't care for how story-based it is though.

I really want to play the sequel and the Wii remake now too.

Its not amazing or anything. It just has a lot of content. You have a fairly large world to explore and the way you move from area to area is a lot like Zelda. For a while its easy to get around but sometime after you get the 2nd protagonist and can use magic the game becomes significantly harder. I guess its comparable to a clunkier Jak and Daxter design wise, as it also has a decent amount of platforming on the side of its basic combat.

It also has a lot of sidequests and hidden secrets throughout. If you're looking for a meaty game with a lot of content its great, just that the actual gameplay is kind of clunky and simple.

Maybe, but there's one that really sucks and is completely random. It happens 2/3rd through the game and it takes away an item from your inventory that you need to move forward with. I played it three times so far and had it happen to me once.
