Dark Souls 3 greatly benefits from reusing Bloodborne's assets and ideas from Dark Souls 1. If you played it before any other Souls game, I wouldn't fault you for calling it the best. I'm among the minority that liked how it felt more like a direct sequel and not part of an anthology like Dark Souls 2. However, it has few original ideas, being more content to reuse rather than expand upon them, and you quickly realize that half the bosses feel like the same shit over and over. You don't feel that fatigue nearly as much with Bloodborne tweaks to combat.

I absolutely fucking hate Dancer, Friede, Gael, Nameless King, and Soul of Cinder. All these faggots with their sperg out attacks feel the same. Oceiros feels different but is just about the messiest fight in the game with nauseating camera issues. Twin Princes offered something interesting with its teleportation gimmick that didn't get out of control. Champion Gundyr and Dragonslayer Armor were reasonable combat check bosses. Still, my last ten hours of Dark Souls 3 felt like such a chore. The sense of accomplishment from beating bosses had completely disappeared.

Bloodborne:

Bloodborne is a better game, but I still recognize that it suffers from being a little on the short side, having crappy PvP, having a more limited selection of weapons, and being locked to bad hardware.

Dark Souls 3 is the best one in the series with all the DLC. Bloodborne is a mediocre entry and maybe slightly better than dark souls 2.

DS3 feels like a washed up experience.

The whole "dark fantasy" setting has been done so much that I have become utterly indifferent to it, so that is one big reason why I like BB more. While I dislike the lack of weapons and felt it was shorter than other souls games, I personally preferred the setting and thought what little weapons were there were cool as fuck.

On the other hand, DS3 felt like retreading common ground both in setting and content, but it was still a fun experience with more weapons, areas and bosses, if not as unique with each. Also you don't need to go through the entire game just to use the weapon you want.

Overall i prefer Bloodborne but I will still play both games religiously.

If that were true then why does half of /v/ complain that DS3 is too much like bloodborne? BB is the better game overall, but it's hit and miss in a lot of areas, many of those being the concepts unique to it whereas DS3 is almost flawless but reuses more assets. At 40 arcane you only get 71 damage from the scaling and this only applies to the tricked attacks. It's much easier to find gems that boost physical damage so you get more out of strength/skill scaling.

A solid 90% of them are completely unusable trash. Even the "good" weapons are just degrees of being slightly less shitty. There really aren't any bad weapons in Bloodborne, on the other hand. Everything is viable depending on play style and if you build properly for it. The worst I think I can say for any of them is that LHB is a tad boring.

This is the only legitimate edge that DS3 has over Bloodborne, and personally I stopped noticing altogether in NG+ after accumulating several hundred of them.
