It was probably for the best. If it was released for US it would have probably been severely mistreated here. The english patch is at least serviceable. The only big shame is that all the tutorial stuff is still in jap and is likely never going to get fixed so a lot of new players who dont want to bother having to hunt down blogs to explain a lot of the mechanics simply forego them.

I also dont think the US would have whaled enough to make money on it. I dont think the west falls for absolute jewry in cosmetics as much as they do for straight up P2W

I think that it's more they catch the wind that the game hold unsuitable design choice and business model for western market, then canned the idea for localizing the game.
