Telltale's adventure games (their actual adventure games, not their glorified VNs) have never been great, so how much you'll enjoy the game depends largely on how much you like Wallace and Gromit.
>>
>>383408505
Unfortunately you couldn't do such a game, without the player having knowledge about the comics.

Bingo. Wolf Among Us definitely takes third place though, if it didn't have a weak finish it could've been the best. Second place goes to the first season of Walking Dead.

Dude, I enjoyed The Wolf Among Us. It's not a game though. Nothing is gained by having the player click through the prescribed actions in order. It might as well be a TV show. It'd be fantastic, and I'd enjoy every episode.

But it gains nothing by being a game. And the same is true for The Last of Us.

You clearly don't get what made it good then.
Ofc if you start the game and hit no buttons nothing happens. Thus making it a videogame. TLOU is an even dumber arguement it has a whole flushed out combat system that actually makes up most the game.
>>
>>383405730
This shit right here got me into the Fables comics.
Don't care about anything else from Telltale.
>>
>>383405730
Had it stayed on the level of the first episode, sure. Problem with TWAU is that it went downhill after that. Borderlands game is probably their best one so far, although that depends heavily on how much you care about Borderlands itself.
>>
>>383410907
Make what claim? that VNs are games but Telltale aren't? If you saw that, it was bait.
Yeah, dumb people exist, but hypocrisy of that level is always, ALWAYS bait, and even if it isn't, it should be treated as such
>>
>>383410939
>it has a whole flushed out
That's probably the best way to describe the combat in The Last of Us, "Flushed out." In the same way you flush out constipation or an unwanted pregnancy.
>>
>>383410725
The show is trash even in season 1, and absolutely unwatchable in season 2.
>>
>>383408530
GoT had WAY too many protagonists for it's own good. Mira, for example, was completely unnecessary and pointless.
Rodrik was great, though, his sequences were objectively the best.
>>
>>383411056
They had to re-write large chunks of the script after the first ep, since Bill Willingham (writer of the Fables comics) disliked what they came up with. Don't know what exactly was the problem, but I guess it was about the immortality of the characters.

Nowhere near as good as the LucasArts one. The problem with Telltale's adventure games is that they follow the really stale formula that most modern adventure games follow, where instead of items and interactions being a kind of puzzle often times centered around wordplay, the game becomes a giant fetch and trading quest; and you always need to end up with three things, for some seemingly arbitrary reason. Some of the humor of Sam & Max is still there, and there's a few bits of good writing.

Avoid Season 3 though. Season 3 is pure, unfiltered hot garbage.

I feel like a big weakness for Game of Throne was the connection to the HBO version.

Telltale's best work is when they're telling their own story, but the Forresters just felt like they were just going through a less interesting version of the actual series, and going out of their way to make sure fan favorites had cameos.

>most modern adventure games follow,

For the most part, they invented that formula. Good or bad the PnC genre is not actually a profitable one. Going cinematic is the only way the normies will give up the dosh.

Let's be real, how many of you faggots have actually played a recent PnC adventure game like Night of the Rabbit? Exactly.

So just to be clear: Daedalic, an indie dev, counts, but other indie devs don't? Is there actually criteria for counting, or is it entirely arbitrary?
>>
>>383416941
Yeah, I know. I want to love them but goddamn they make it hard. The co-founders even wrote a big-ass paper about character interactions in vidya, it landed them a doctorate. But characters and puzzles are so lame-ass most of the time. Rufus started out as a great idea of a great character — a PnC protagonist with no charisma, so everybody sees him for a scumbag he really is. But progression wasn't there and that ending to 3 was so half-assed.

Not as bad as Walking Dead season 2, but I still got pretty frustrated with how little power your choices had when antagonists are repeatedly kicking you while you're down every single episode and guilting you for everything you say or don't say.

I guess it did technically have more variation in the end then a lot of Telltale's titles, but I kind of doubt the second season will follow it up with a lot of branching paths.

It was honestly the one that made me say "Fuck telltale!" And never buy another one of their games again.

For example one character you play as is in Esso's, and the game has you go to Deanery's to get men from her. She'll agree to do it if you help her take the city she's besieging (whichever one she was trying to take around the red wedding.) You're told not to kill any masters or something and your partner,
some scarred up female warrior finds the guy who use to own her. If you let her kill him, she refuses to give you her men, and instead gives you a bunch of money. Of you don't, she still doesn't give you her men cause she needs them still or some shit and you get the gold again.

It was about that moment I was done with them, since I never bother playing after that episode.

I used to like them 3 or 4 years ago. I played their Batman game just because i'm a fan of the character and i was hoping it would have a Noir feel to it, like Wolf Among Us, but i was disappointed. I disliked the way they portrayed some characters, like Penguin and Harvey Dent. Ended up dropping it because the Batman sessions were far too short and the Bruce Banner ones were kinda boring aside from maybe the moments he spent with Selyna, but that's about it.

But that's subjective and normally i'd say i had just moved on from these kinda games by now, but even on a technical level, after all these years, it feels like they haven't take a single step further, their games alredy looked like ass back then, but i respected it because they were a small team making niche games, Now that they got lotta money and at least 2 new games every year, looks to me like they're just being lazy. To top it not only looks like shit, it ran like shit on my PC, which was unnaceptable.
