What did they mean by this?

That they still can refuse business with you if you try to abuse the system.
>>
>>383394096

If your food is spoiled, you cannot eat it. It cannot perform the function you bought it for. You should be entitled to a refund.

If your television is broken, you cannot watch it. It cannot perform the function you bought it for. You should be entitled to a refund.

If your video game is bad, you can still play it. It can still perform the function you bought it for. No fucking refunds. Oh, but you say you bought the game to entertain you, and it doesn't do what you bought it to do? Tough shit.

If you bought food because you thought it would taste good, and it doesn't, then you don't get a refund. If you bought a television because you thought there were good programmes to watch, and there are none, then you don't get a refund.

The fact that you can actually get a refund through Steam to overcome you not doing your research and buying a shitty game that you don't enjoy is one of the best consumer right you could ask for. Going on to complain about that, and you start to see where all the 'gamers are so entitled' arguments start from.

what the fuck are you even talking about? If I get shitty food at a restaurant I absolutely send it back and do not pay. That is my right as a consumer. No one owes you money if your goods are trash. >>
>>383395048

I don't know, I haven't logged into Steam since Overwatch came out. They do refunds? Why?
>>
>>383394532
I'm just giving you a little shit, bro.

Moral of this thread, and the point people should get, is that yes there are some pretty awful games out there with failed promises or stagnant development, which as a COURTESY, people should be allowed to get a refund for, but for the most part if you're doing this constantly you are a straight up piece of shit and need to do a little research before spending your money instead of abusing a good system.
I personally have bought lots of games I didn't like but have never asked for a refund because that's just how it goes sometimes. I watch shitty movies at the theatre too but I don't walk out and demand a refund, I just don't watch it again or anything by that director or whatever the case calls for.

It still blows my mind that there are people so retarded they cannot figure out if they'll enjoy a game or not before buying it. You have so much to go by, thousands of videos, screenshots, online game guides, probably dozens of similar games already out there, millions of people talking about it, back in the day you had to choose games based on name and covert art alone.

If you have more than 1 year of experience in playing video games and still can't figure out if Call of Battlefield : Assassin's Brotherhood 7 is a game you'd enjoy, then you should honestly put the rope around your neck and delay your parent's celebration party no longer.
The only things refunds should be used for is outright lying in advertisement or because of mechanical aspects like games that don't work on your PC because of bad specs/bad port/horrible crashes.
>>
>>383393725

But that's exactly what it is. You can't know whether or not a game is worth the purchase unless you actually try it for yourself. It's the whole reason digital refunds were setup in the first place.

Stop giving your money to shit services like Steam. You can't very well complain about your consumer rights being violated when you're voluntarily funding the institutions that don't care about consumer rights.

>>
>>383397536

>I have to do basic research on whether to make a purchase or not.

Yeah, no shit. Also there's plenty of non view-whoring shit out there.

FFS this isn't hard. The onus is on _you_ to decide whether or not to buy something.

Someone selling something doesn't have to make something good, they just have to make something that works. You can legally get a refund if it doesn't work. Anything else and it's just a company being nice.

'I don't like it' is not, and will never be, a valid argument to say you are legally entitled to a refund.
>>
>>383397357
Like i can buy that his skin and muscles are hard as shit. But there is no way his eyes are that tough right? >>383394096

Food can be made inedible if it is spoiled. If the meat is cooked to shit, or if the food was literally rotten then you shouldnt eat it and you shouldnt pay for it. Food not being to your liking is not a reason to not pay for it. Others may have payed for it and loved it. Steam refunds exist for the former not the latter. A game not running well on your system, online play being broken, servers down. Those are reasons to refund.
>>
