Used to be that Red Guards were so skilled with weapons that they made it into a magical art form.

On the other hand Nords are just brute strength, but their bodies were so powerful they were able to manifest their prowess into magical shouting.

Of course from Oblivion and on the magic of the setting has been replaced with the generic. And now the magic of those two races is flat out gone.

They're somehow the least interesting despite being the oldest race in Tamriel. Maybe that would change if we went to their homeland and saw what it was like but right now the average Altmer that's not a Thalmor just kind of adopts the culture of the country they're in or turns into a crazy necromancer.

Mostly orcs (because I like the whole pariah race trying to scrap a living concept) or dunmer (because of morrowind's lore).
I wish they'd dug into argonians or redguard society and lore in something that's not ESO, it would make a player character from those races more interesting.
