Game will have 22-28 characters, it's like ningens have never bought a Dragonball game. There's going to be more than one installment. Odds are they'll go XX route but add a handful of characters each update. Final version could have just shy of 50, but realistically they're going to get it the base right first. This isn't an engine with a bunch of pallet swaps, it's a fighting game first and then a Dragonball game.

I'll defend the potara retcon because that's not a retcon technically. When Goku and Vegeta unfused inside Buu the best answer was an asspull on Old Kai's part, since no one knew how it worked, having never tried it before with non-Kais. In my eyes it's more a "lolmaybe" finally getting a concrete answer from someone who knows what they're doing.
