No it didn't, all of the enemies were generic as fuck. In Origins enemies had skills and spells, mages especially could completely fuck your shit up if you didn't kill them quickly enough. For example Arcane Horrors came in three different varieties- they could be a damage dealing type, a support type, or a mix of both. If they were a damage dealer they had access to spells like Winter's Grasp, Blizzard, Chain Lightning, Fireball, Spirit Blast, and Walking Bomb. Winter's Grasp and Blizzard could freeze you, Chain Lightning dealt lightning damage, Fireball knocked you back while lighting you on fire. If they were support they had access to Sleep, Miasma, and several hexes like Death, Misdirection, and Vulnerability.

In DA2 Arcane Horrors only have a teleportation spell, an AoE spell, a damage dealing spell, and a shield. They only dealt one kind of damage and lost the ability to debuff your party, which, if used in conjunction with other enemies in the area could be devastating if you didn't take them out first.

This extends to most enemies in DA2 and Inquisition to a lesser extent. Rage Demons in Origins, for example, had a fire attack that was a cone in addition to a fire projectile and a melee attack. Stronger Rage Demons had access to a powerful AoE spell and Fireball. Rage Demons in the later games just attack you, and that's it.

The game is based off LOTR and ASOIAF books. You're also not required to do those Rift quests or any collection quests. It's like someone complaining about achievements saying "this is bullshit I don't want to collect all these shit for a stupid achievement." They are just extra things for you to do after you've done the main quest.
