Emulation is better, sadly.

At this point cartridges are for collecting, NOT for playing the game, and so they are charged prices fitting collectibles. Its not worth it.

On a side note, if youre going emulation I reccomend Project 64. If you liked super Mario 64, theres a hack of it called "Last impact" and its super cool.

N64 emulation is crap

there is a cart , I think its called ever drive , which you download the noms on to a flash card , put it into this card , and the n64 plays the games like the real card is installed.

My N64 works but all my controllers are worn out. I even replaced them back in the day too.

Since all these fagboys will say emulation, just buy the damn carts. The experience with a N64 controller and playing without the cheating of save states really makes the game experience legit. There's no reason to emulate unless people are being jews with selling carts to where you cant buy it without paying $60 or more. At that point, go ahead and emulate.

Depends on the game.
I too dug up my N64 and decided to buy Bomberman 64.
Got it in the area of $18-$27 on eBay, can't be fucked to look up the actual price.
It was much cleaner and responsive to play it natively and on a CRT.
But it's really just not worth the money at that price if you have a big laundry list of games you want to play.
I beat Majora's Mask for the first time a few years ago on an emulator and had no issues doing so.
If you have a CRT, I'd recommend just buying a few really good games you haven't played before.

fuck project 64, they kept trying to make me donate to them even try to make me me go to a virus ridden site just to get to my rom selection. Just find remakes of the games for the gamecube and play on Dolphin.

but why on earth would you emulate the N64 version over the playstation version? Or Gamecube version?

emulation blows the shit out of the actual console. You can actually play the games in HD and native wide-screen. Of-course the game aren't gonna be 100% accurate but you won't even notice it unless you're some autistic speed-runner that complains about the games running half a frame faster or some stupid shit like that.
