Looking for some quick advice /v/
Trying to get my Dreamcast back up and working, bought ps2/xbox replacement power cable (works) and standard av dreamcast cables.
Plugging them into 2 different flat screen tv's, both about 5 years old, is yielding a highly distorted video. Never had issues with ps2/xbox/gamecube on these tv's so im wondering if anyone else ever dealt with this?
Would it simply work on an older tv? Thanks in advance.

Taking a pic is difficult, its only showing mostly a black screen. Hold on anon I'll try again
Shouldn't be a question of flatscreen vs CRT. It's probably your AV cables. Order some new ones online, preferrably s-video ones for a better picture quality. /vr/ could give better help.

Well, it could be. Some other guy had the same issue and claimed an older TV solved the problem.

Are you using composite video (yellow plug), then you will get distortions no matter what.
Dreamcast is capable of VGA though, which you can connect to most monitors, but you'll need a cable/box for it.Look at the Hanzo, Kuro, and Toro.

Honestly though, I would go to a Salvation Army Store, buy a CRT TV with S-Video input, and use that for all retro game consoles.

Thanks anon. Gonna post a pic in a sec. They seem like pretty new cables.

Also, there are VGA cables available for the DC you might consider trying. I've seen them at my local retro game shop
Holy shit. It just started working as I replugged it in for a pic. Not sure what the issue was.. but definitely going to look for an older tv for retro consoles. Always having issues with new tv's.
Thanks to all anons for your advice, it will be used.

Doesnt matter if they are new. If they are cheap knock offs they might be shit quality or manufacturered wrong.

The age of the tv doesnt matter man. I play all my old consoles, inlcuding my dreamcast on a brand new tv.
Could be a wire is cut inside the plastic and you moved it into place, try not to move the cable. If you want to test it just move the wire around and bend it around a bit while it's connected. I got a Dreamcast at a fleemarket and it looked fine on my 7 year old TV.
