MoF and LoS2 have good points but are very flawed in comparison to LoS1, all thanks to Konami executive fuckery:
MoF was supposed to be traditional Metroidvania but Konami demanded LoS-style mechanics in it, LoS2 had its development cut short by a year due to Konami deciding to focus on Castlevania Erotic Violence Pachinko machine instead and the studio's CEO went full retard with hunger for power driving half the talent to quit the company

The first game wasn't THAT bad, though. It could use some improvements, sure, and the whole DLC was fucking retarded, but it was still OK.
But then for some reason they decided to go with that retarded ass MoF thing and LoS2 which made everything so much, much more worse.

As for games I wish they didn't exist, I'd probably go with MGS5. It didn't really add anything and just left a bad aftertaste. Sure, the gameplay itself was pretty good and most likely the best in the series but it wasn't really applied well as most outposts were pretty much the same and there was fuckall to do outside of missions (most of which were basically just copypasted "do something to random person in the russian/afghan/nigger base")

Is it really that bad though? I haven't played it yet but from what I have seen the game's got a sweet art direction and the gameplay seems tolerable.

I'm playing Curse of Darkness right now and I'm still digging it despite how repetitive it is, I had heard the combat system was ass, but it doesn't seem as bad as people made it out to be. Now, the level design is non-existent, just empty corridors with a few torches and no puzzles or platforming.
